School: Houston HS, Germantown, Tenn. Drafted/Committed: Georgia Tech
Age At Draft: 18.5
BA Grade: 55/Extreme
Mitchell is a lefthanded-hitting shortstop with a lively, athletic frame who has an impressive track record that includes a gold medal with USA Baseball’s 15U National Team in 2022 and tons of bat-to-ball ability. He has a wiry frame at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with plenty of room to fill out and add strength. Still, teams are excited about the sort of exit velocities he’s been able to produce in games and batting practices already. Mitchell has a high hand setup with a crouched stance at the plate and pairs good hand-eye coordination with a strong batting eye and a versatile swing that’s geared for low line drives. He doesn’t expand the zone too frequently and gets on plane consistently, with a chance for an above-average hit tool to go with doubles power now that should turn into solid or better raw power at physical maturity. Mitchell showed better run times during the 2025 spring and has above-average speed, with the actions and athleticism to potentially stick at shortstop or second base. He’ll need to refine the defensive side of his game to do so, because his throwing has been an issue at times—despite solid arm strength—and he’s often a bit slow on his transfers. Some scouts wonder if he would be a better fit in center field. Mitchell is committed to Georgia Tech but has gotten enough buzz this spring that it would be unsurprising to see him selected in the supplemental first round or shortly thereafter.
Scouting Grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run:55 | Field: 50 | Arm: 50.

Patience with those type of Cards picks...it finally worked with Baez. Not so much with Fletcher, FullerKarmaloop3 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2025 20:37 pmI mean, fits the Cardinals mold for HS players. They like athletic with advanced hit tools.
