Liam Doyle had a 2.84 ERA and held batters to a .172 batting average

Finally a pitcher that can blow the batters away .
There is only one player I'd rather have at that point. {Hernandez]

He is going to be a fan favorite.

The cardinals of today are boring.
There is nothing boring about this guy.

Someone better tell Zach Wheeler he’s doing it wrong
Wheeler relies on 6 pitches. Four Seamer (41.9%) Sinker (17.7%) Sweeper (13.7%) Curveball (9.2%) Cutter (9.1%) Split Finger (8.4%)

You were close or maybe you are thinking about when he pitches against Cardinals.
Let’s me help you out.

Four seam fastball - 41.9%
Sinker (fastball) - 17.7%
Cut fastball - 9.1%
Split finger fastball - 8.4%

That would be 77.1% fastballs.

If they were intent on drafting a pitcher and Anderson was off the board they should have taken the one with the highest ceiling in Hernandez. Doyle would have gone between 15 to 20 last year.
Hopefully he will succeed and will at least rise fast so that makes it a safe pick which has been the Cardinals model. Let’s hope he is not another Zack Thompson or Hjerbe who both also was tabbed as quick contributors.
I still believe they would have taken Willits or Holiday if available. I guess they felt guys like Parker and Hernandez carried too much risk for the money involved.

Agree. I don’t think the Cardinals were willing to go the long game with Hernandez. They still need to pick up another solid arm somewhere.

Hope it hurts him another 45 minutes.
He has a little tweener to him with the C/OF.

The lack of medicals probably helped

Well it’s a (bleep) shame this kid can’t cut down on the FBs by 2.9% before he makes it to the show
