Def would have preferred Arnold’s more likely being a SP, but do like Doyle’s potential

Wow ! The kid down I-40 from me. Liam Doyle UT

I live 70 miles from Knoxville and watched him pitch during the year. Talk about intense. He makes Al Hrabosky look mild on the mound . lol
He is going to be a handful but ball he sure is ultra competitive. Needs a manager to keep him in line.

I will be taping all 3 Knoxville local TV stations tonight for their SPORTS and will let the forum know what the Knoxville gossip is on the pick.

PS Here is one scouting report

Liam Doyle is a highly touted left-handed pitcher from the University of Tennessee, projected as a potential top-10 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. He is known for his explosive fastball, which sits in the 92-96 mph range and can reach 99 mph, and his impressive arsenal of secondary pitches, including a slider, splitter, and cutter. His ability to generate high whiff rates with his fastball and splitter, along with his improved splitter usage, makes him a compelling prospect.
Key Strengths:
Elite Fastball:
Doyle's fastball is his primary weapon, boasting high velocity (92-96 mph, touching 99 mph) and significant movement, making it difficult to barrel up.
Strong Secondary Pitches:
He complements his fastball with a slider that flashes plus potential, a splitter that generates a lot of whiffs, and a cutter.
High Strikeout Rate:
Doyle has demonstrated the ability to miss bats, evidenced by his high strikeout rates and strong whiff percentages.
Improved Splitter:
He has increased his usage of the splitter, showcasing its potential as a plus pitch.
Competitive Drive:
Doyle possesses a strong competitive drive and belief in his abilities, contributing to his success.
Potential Concerns:
Delivery:
Some scouts have noted that his delivery can be effortful and may raise some questions about his long-term durability, according to Medium.
Command and Control:
While his walk rates are comparable to other top prospects, some evaluators have expressed concerns about his command and control, particularly against better competition, says The New York Times.
Breaking Ball Development:
The development of his breaking ball, particularly a true gyro slider, is something that teams will likely focus on in professional ball, according to Baseball America.
Overall:
Liam Doyle is a high-upside pitcher with a potentially dominant fastball and a solid repertoire of secondary pitches. While some concerns exist regarding his delivery and breaking ball development, his stuff is undeniable, and he has the potential to be a top-of-the-rotation starter or an elite closer.

I don't like all those gyrations and yelling on the mound.

Reminds me of Carlos Zambrano, and I hated him.

It's an elite pitch though.

Clemens once said he had 4 pitches when they told him
He had only 1.

Time for the development to get better 2nd and 3rd

LMAO
The comments I’m reading from the “experts” on CT should forever be preserved in a time capsule for future generations!

Not the biggest fan of this pick BUT now we have to hope the Cardinals scouts did their job properly and the coaching staff does its job properly. There is upside here.
