Problem they are having is the are currently very few sellers and all the big market teams also want to add SP. he believes it’s a sellers market and any SP will require a 2-1 return. So if the Cardinals want to add they will have to be willing to give a ton
the corollary is what MO should be thinking about
that is, if any team WOULD EVEN WANT any of the Card starters.
relievers yes, starters probably not.
I keep saying the Cardinals should sell early before there are other sellers to compete with and before teams begin to satisfy their demands.
I think that’s a very good call….
Sell who? Players a team would buy are Gray Helsley Donovan Winn Hererra Wetherholt and maybe for Pennie’s on the dollar Gorman or Walker.
Anyone not named Winn, Herrera, wetherholt

Agreed. Move one starter and one reliever. They can still compete for a playoff spot. While building up their talent base for the future.

Gray Maton and Helsley are the only ones any contender will want. Other would require DFA or selling for Pennie’s on the dollar

I think three weeks time will show otherwise.

Depending on the get, Maton or Helsley are easily moved.

Let's not get Mo too interested in anything other than where he's going to retire and what he's going to do in retirement. Sept. 28 is right around the corner.

After the past two weeks, this team should be sellers. Look to move Helsley and/or Maton. See what return Nootbaar could bring. If the Dodgers call on Arenado, listen.

See how you can improve the club going forward. This team isn't strong enough to make the playoffs or advance.

It's clearly a seller's market. Helsley, Maton and even Matz have inflated values because of it. We now know Fedde and Miko are worthless.
If Mo doesn't get something of decent value back, it's a sin. These FAs aren't coming back, and the team isn't going to the playoffs (and would be 1-10 if they get lucky and do).
If someone makes an offer for Burly, Donny, or even Gorman (unlikely) - and a catcher not named Bernal, they have to listen.
I think Miami is the place to look for trades, as they manufacture pitching (3 of their top 5 prospects are good pitchers).
Burly is 26 and Donny 28 and they're the 2 best hitters on the team and you want to trade them away! NO WAY!

I said they had to listen. You can’t improve without risks.

Donovan is going to get $20m per soon. You ready to pay that?

Alcantara's last 3 starts 18 runs in 17 innings. I wouldn't be surprised if the Marlins are shopping Edward Cabrera as a package deal with Alcantara to unload Alcantara's contract.

Cabrera's problem has always been bb/9 but his seems to have fixed that this season and isn't a free agent until 2029. He will help a team down the stretch.

Regarding Keller if he goes to a contender he will be a factor. He would help the Cardinals but asking price is likely more than we want to pay.
