Re: Montreal Writers Weigh In: Mulling the Mailloux Move
I agree about Hockey Sense. I think Strick is actually one of the best interviewers in sports when you watch him on the podcast. He puts the guest at ease and asks questions that aren't cookie cutter. If you haven't listened to Mailloux, you should listen to this. Not earth shattering but gives you some interesting insight into the most controversial Blue in quite a while. I like Bolduc, but I am totally pulling for Mailloux to flourish here ... even though it could take a while.zamadoo wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 12:23 pmOh, just saw this video from "Hockey Sense with Andry Strickland" Episode 51 feat. Will just have to see how Mailloux plays and develops. If he cleans up his defensive game, he’s going to be a home run add. If he doesn’t, he might just become the fans’ next whipping boy. TBD.
But personally, I plan on giving him a good amount of grace. We really need him to hit. And bc of Covid, a suspension due to his bad decision at 17 and some injuries, he’s missed a lot of development time. Sometimes that simply dooms a kid and they can never get back that lost time. Other times, they just take a bit longer. I’m hoping for the later.

LM: I don't think he's a comparable player. I like Pietrangelo and Karlsson a bit more, I like to have a little Snarl in my game, I think so too? (Que Mickey/Rocky scene!)
Strick: How many fights did you have last year?
LM: only 2-3. I try to have 3 at least every year

Strick: Are you a guy who fights angry...(several more reasons)...or does it help you get into the game?
LM: Rob Ramage was our player development guy in MTL (lives in STL), he told me that one of the keys he thought when he played was...you have to get into the game, find a way to get into the game; get hit, throw a hit, get in a scrum...and I feel I play my best game since...once I find a way to do somethin early, whether it's me gettin blown up, or me hittin a guy, or just gettin a punch in the face or givin one...I feel like it just wakes you up a little more and it gets you goin...so I've been tryin to do that a lot more...
He's a bit of a goober, but I like what he's said so far.
Re: Montreal Writers Weigh In: Mulling the Mailloux Move
Strick: How's your defense? How much are you working on your defensive game, and where do you think it's at? Because everyone seems to have an opinion, but no one's watched you play, Logan. So you tell me. Where are you at defensively?zamadoo wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 13:27 pmStrick: some have compared you to Bouchard, what do you think?zamadoo wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 12:23 pmIn his recent interview, he said the past season in the AHL he was working on his overall game. LM: Yeah I feel like this past year it got a lot better. I feel like my first year in the A, I had better numbers... but I don't think my game was as well rounded as it was this past season, to be honest. We had some new coaches come in ... who had a different way, and I feel like I learned a lot. I worked with my D coach Dan Jacob a lot. Just on like little details and stuff, but I feel like I never really fine tuned before defensively. But I think it's good enough, for sure, I don't think I'm a Slavin out there, but I think it's pretty good. Maybe I'm a little biased but...

Re: Montreal Writers Weigh In: Mulling the Mailloux Move
When Tucker was Malloux's age he was hoping to make the Blues. He ended that season -9. Hate this all you want, but, at least be honest about what you're comparing. Tucker was a 7th Rounder. LM was a 1st, even with the "situation".Red7 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 13:11 pm The LAST thing the Blues needed was ANOTHER defenseman who is a liability in his own zone. They needed another Tyler Tucker. Re: Montreal Writers Weigh In: Mulling the Mailloux Move
No disrespect to Tbone, but when did Bolduc become grit and sandpaper? No doubt his game improved over the season. Unless being able to take a good punch in the face from Columbus' Olivier counts (preseason under wimpy Bannister). Monty is the one bringing the grit and sandpaper on a team level which is even better. Mailoux should fit right in with that style and we'll love it! Nice to have guys that can rattle teeth besides Tucker. Even Kyrou laid a big hit at the blue-line in the playoffs (spilled my drink!). Thats Monty. I can't wait for the season to start.

FWIW Grant McCagg did this Mailloux writeup in November. It's a written piece not a video. Plenty of detail:

Thanks for posting.

Duh. However, in the WCF, the Blues literally broke their defense (a couple didn’t even play in G6) and broke their team.theograce wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 13:14 pmThey played the Bruins in the FinalRed7 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 13:11 pm The LAST thing the Blues needed was ANOTHER defenseman who is a liability in his own zone. Even when Tucker was LM’s age, he had size, strength, toughness and an edge. LM has shown one of those. He has size.TAFKAP wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 13:34 pmWhen Tucker was Malloux's age he was hoping to make the Blues. He ended that season -9. Tucker, who I like, has had more than his share of negative "liable" moments on ice as he has grown. It's part of the process.Red7 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 14:16 pmEven when Tucker was LM’s age, he had size, strength, toughness and an edge. LM has shown one of those. Parayko took tons of kraaap here for not being "tough enough" in MOST of his early years.
So where are you getting all this info on how physically weak he is?? He himself claims the exact opposite.
Re: Montreal Writers Weigh In: Mulling the Mailloux Move
The Sharks got beat to a pulp in the earlier rounds, the Blues swooped in finished them off. I don’t see it that way. Karlsson got pounded and Pavelski got concussed. Pavelski was their leader and he nice he went down it was over. If fully healthy, I believe the Sharks could have wonDawgDad wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 14:33 pmThe Sharks got beat to a pulp in the earlier rounds, the Blues swooped in finished them off.
