Dvorsky 100’ game

His draft year scouts were raving about his defensive game. I watched a scouting report that said (specifically for the Slovakian team) it was like having a 3rd defender. I can't find that video, which did show him often getting back and even getting around to skate backwards vs opposing rush.

One clip at the 2:28 mark with Dvo standing in front of his crease says "Dvorsky could pull a Federov and play defence in a pinch. He doesn't run around chasing the puck, he maintains solid positioning and boxes out anyone entering the slot."

3:10: "Smart play to circle back and make sure the puck exits the zone. He gets checked on this play but that was pretty much inevitable with the two opponents so close. Better it happen outside of the zone than in it." -something the Blues have struggled with the past several years

Anyways, that video is ~30min long and illustrates what the scout said and my point that Dvo was an excellent 200' centerman his draft year. I don't know about his play in Springfield, but on the world stage against his peers I've watched him excel in every area of the ice and lead his team from end to end the entire game every game.

I would bet anything this is Grant McCagg's notes with the video. He had Dvorsky 3d overall on his board in his draft year. He had Frondell 3d on his board too and likes them for similar reasons.

Those comments are how he talks about players. He is biased toward playoff-projectable players over regular season players. This is two days before this draft before Montreal got Dobson. He was very high on Prokhorov (10) and low on Lakovic, had him 31. He talks about the reason that made me put Brady Martin 5th - he's a future Sam Bennett who wins in the playoffs, ultracompetitive.

They asked him about Fiddler, he says he's a big boy but he's a disappointment and questions on his puck moving. Lot has to come together. Yep.

Talks about Carbonneau right after talking about Fiddler, then he talks about Reinbacher/Mailloux ... worthy listen ... Mailloux was getting the prime PP time prime PK time and thought the Canadiens were going to promote Mailloux rather than Reinbacher.

Had Hagens 8th on his board. Does not think he can play away from the puck at his size and strength as a center.

I'd add (not in this interview) that he likes Dvorsky specifically because the tougher the 200' game against the tougher the competition (playoffs) is where he thinks Dvorsky is strongest. Literally the opposite of the premise of this thread. I think there is a nonzero chance Dvorsky becomes the best player on the Blues.

Thanks for sharing. In limited viewings, I've agreed with his analysis, and your point that Dvorsky is the opposite of the premise of this thread.
