Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
I'm sure he is asking for a ridiculous price, he can always come down.
On top of that its quite easy for a young guy as an RFA to use his asking price/signing basically almost like a full no trade clause much like Dobson did.

Dobson got 9.5M and he is a tier above Byram. Bryam is injury prone more so I wouldnt go more than 7.5M
Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
Fowler Broberg is the bridge to Broberg Lindstein. No need to spend assets "shoring" up what is one the organization's strengths.

I bet he ends up in Vegas…….
Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
Hahaha...probably.
They'll sign him for $12M per and then LTIR him after he gets his last concussion and retires.

Anyone think a package around Stenberg be enough to draw Byram? We would need to send Faulk the other way to make Byram fit at around an 8 AAV.
Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
I don't know if that's what Buffalo is looking for, but I would be displeased if we traded Stenberg.NE Blues Fan wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025 19:37 pm Anyone think a package around Stenberg be enough to draw Byram? We would need to send Faulk the other way to make Byram fit at around an 8 AAV.
If we're trading prospects it needs to be a lower tier like Jecho, Mrsic, or Ralph. I think BUF might actually want Faulk and an NHL forward. They may end up just taking a package of picks/prospects depending on the offers, but I don't think that's what they're looking for.

I think you have to expand your thinking on what Byram or others will get. The cap going up this year and another substantial increase next year is only going to drive contracts up.

I agree. No way we should be letting go of Stenberg or Lindstein who will be cost controlled for years. And with Fowler here we don't need Byram to fill out our LD lineup. By the time Fowler leaves Lindstein could be ready to step in. There will be other LD available in a year.zamadoo wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025 19:49 pmI don't know if that's what Buffalo is looking for, but I would be displeased if we traded Stenberg.NE Blues Fan wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025 19:37 pm Anyone think a package around Stenberg be enough to draw Byram? If it costs us top prospects on top of 7.5 to 9M in cap space, no thanks.
Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
I love fowler but he is turning 34. Even if he plays well this year, signing him has its risks at that age.somni wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 18:20 pm IMO, the only reason to get Byram would be if the Blues don't plan on signing Fowler after this year. Or if they perceive Tucker still a 7th dman.
The Blues do need someone to provide more insurance as the bottom pairing of Mailloux/Tucker is a little suspect. A Ryan Suter signing again would make some sense.
Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
I love fowler but hes 34.8.5 at 4 year term can turn bad really fast. Heck there was already talk about if he was washed up his last few years with the ducks til he had a resurgence with us.DawgDad wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025 12:24 pmCome on, Pierre. We KNOW (by proclamation) it is highly doubtful Broberg can ever be a #1, Byram might be a viable #2 if he stays healthy, and Lindstein was a miss.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑04 Jul 2025 12:12 pmNot trading Lindstein
Broberg
Byram
Lindstein
That could be the future..
If Fowler would take 4 year term wouldn't the Blues be better off keeping him and the assets that wouldn't be traded? Would he take $8-$8.5 per, or was all that talk about liking St. Louis just talk?

I have zero interest in this guy. Stay away. 9 million per ? Lol, dude had 38 pts last year
Re: Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor
+1. He played really well during the Avs Stanley Cup run a few years back, it seemed like he had finally put the tools in the toolbox.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑05 Jul 2025 09:22 am Is Byram really good enough for all this hype this worries me a bit i guess he's stood out in games I've seen against him but man this is a stretch for me
He hasn't looked as good on the Sabres but it's the Sabres. The few Sabres games I've seen he's mostly been with Dahlin and looked fine but nowhere near a $9 million cap hit. He seems more like a complimentary top 4 piece that can move the puck rather than a legit top 4 guy.
