Let's clean a few things up here boys.

Kessel has zero trade value.
The Sabres let JBD go recently. If they wanted an 8th RHD they would have kept him.
Unless they do a 180, they want immediate help so no winger prospect either.

Typical Buffalo: Of all the years they decide they want immediate improvement, they choose the year that they should be tanking for a chance at McKenna. Maybe they change their mind after listening to the recent offers for Byram.

The Sabres LHD:
Dahlin at 11
Power at 8.35
Samuelsson at 4.28
Byram TBD

If Adams trades Byram for another LHD, he'll be lynched.

Ideally the Sabres would love to flush the turd named Mattias Samuelsson but are unlikely to find a sucker.
He has great size but is Charmin soft.

Since I don't feel the Blues are there yet as far as being Cup contenders, I do like the idea of trading for another younger d-man that is top 4 long term. I just don't want a guy with multiple concussion history. I know someone will bring up Perron, but I'll pass all day on Byram unless the ask is ridiculously low.

Adams better realize the return in the trade of Byram will not reconcile both of their needs (RHD & top 6 winger with bite).
He'll fill one need, but not both unless the deal is expanded.

The Rangers could use Byram and have a spare RHD to trade in either Schneider or Morrow.
Cuylle would be a perfect for the Sabres but is probably near untouchable.

New York's main problem is the Zibanejad contract.
If they can find a team that Zibanejad would accept a trade to and that wants him, they would probably have to add a major sweetener like Perreault to the deal just to get Zibanejad off the books with no retention.

The Rangers really don't have a forward that is making decent coin (besides Cuylle) that they can trade as a salary dump to offset the raise Byram will receive. So even if the Rangers would trade Schneider and Perreault for Byram they still would have to unload a contract to get cap compliant.

Dougie Hamilton would fill 2 of the Sabres major needs:
RHD that can run a power play.
The Sabres have had a terrible PP for the past 2 years. That is Hamilton's forte.

The problem is that the Devils don't need a d-man.
The other issue is that NJ also desperately needs top 6 wingers. Two of them in fact.
Before the Peterka trade I had speculated that Hamilton for Tuch made sense for both teams.

Supposedly the Flames have major interest in Byram.
They are loaded at RHD, but Andersson and Weegar won't waive for Buffalo and the Flames are not going to trade Parekh.
Andersson would be perfect with his countryman Dahlin. Too bad it won't happen.
Kadri & Coleman also control their own fate up front.

It might take a 3 way trade for Byram to find a new home if the Sabres insist on immediate help.

Offer him 2 years only. If he wants to test the market at a chance at longer term, trade him.
He won't be around or at least in our top 4 when we are ready to compete for a Cup.

He played very well, but that’s no guarantee that it will continue, especially since he’s on the wrong side of 30
Scandella played well after we traded for him and that extension didn’t work out so well.
Don’t get me wrong, I hope we keep him, just not for those high dollars

I am wondering what is going down with Fowler. He was crazy good with the Blues, the point shares project to 10.9 over 82 games. He could regress 25% and still be a viable #1, 50% and still be serviceable. No Marchand contract, though, please. Would Army just let him walk?
