Nothing is at all ever certain but his trends are going up and in a massive way. Let’s hope this turns out to be a Shanahan for Pronger deal because if Mailloux turns out to be a Krug and Bolduc a Tage Thompson it will get ugly.
One thing is for sure the Canadiens got massively better. I in fact think we will be seeing them in the playoffs this next year. As of right now, I can’t say the same for St. Louis. Make all the excuses you want (not saying you at all Harry) but the bottom line is this. The best guy with the most NHL track record went to the Canadiens. The guy with the biggesy question marks and the least NHL experience went to us. We are assuming the most risk and the best guy left. That is horrid asset management. Many people in Blues media are speculating that more moves are coming. I would prefer we do so without being so generous with our assets. I said many times before sometimes its the moves that you don’t make and the patience you show. Doug Armstrong shouldn’t have made this deal one for one. We aren’t better off now. In fact at this point I would rather Doug do nothing at all. If I was a Gm and saw Doug was calling I would once again be licking my chops.

While we have ten different versions of Schenn. With a pool for of them. I hate this trade.
It was easy to notice management had some type of issue with Bolduc. Clearly wasn't on the ice.
Two things. You can have the best defensive in the world. But if you don't have a goalie and those who can score. You have nothing.
But with goaltending and goals. You can win anytime anywhere.
Another thing.
With Carbs being as you would say 5 years down the road. I wouldn't think it he made Bolduc expendable.
While both Bolduc and Snugs are future top six. Doesn't mean you can't have two. If anything Snugs would make Neighbours expendable.

I always kinda thought those big guys on the ice defending the goal went hand in hand with the guy stopping pucks?
When we played Winnipeg for example and their goaltender was horrible and yet the Blues still went full periods without sustained pressure their defense didn't seem like a nothing.
It also stands to reason that if defenders are worth more than wingers, as has been repeated here and just about everywhere hockey is discussed, that a winger by itself would be less than nothing right?

Who's talking winger. But you.
While you may think we'd done better last year in the playoffs if our defense was better. I say if we would of just kept playing offense we would of done better.
In the end. Neither was able to beat the worse playoff goalie. Because they scored less.
And management went into the turtle before the third period. If we had the lead. So scoring because of management decisions. Including the beat down of Bolduc for his penalty.

Jack, it seems you and I rarely agree on anything but I like how we can usually do it without being disagreeable so let me start off by saying that. First I would agree that Kessel and Mallioux is probably a toss up as to which is better at the position. This isn't shade being thrown either way its just acknowledgement that Kessel seems to have a very low ceiling and Mallioux hasn't proven anything yet. I assume your not a fan of Leddy, I honestly think we really just disagree completely here and we won't find common ground here. I don't see Leddy as being anything more then an ultra steady defender who is good at the transition. He isn't flashy but he has a track record and he is someone who can be trusted to give steady defense. That track record makes him altogether different from a guy who has played 8 games and has a -5 +/-. To be clear it means there isn't enough to say what Logan is or will be. So Leddy definitely belongs, Logan not so much.. yet.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 13:54 pm C'mon it's your opinion but you are over the top here.

This to me is waaaayyy off base. We did lose a heck of a shot. Will he be replaced? I don't know honestly by whom your referring to. I want to call your attention to the fact that when our post season ended both were playing meaningful minutes and both were weapons the opposition had to monitor. You just subtracted one of those weapons and for what? You subtracted it for a guy who hasn't played enough NHL minutes, whom your talking about playing in the third pairing, and whom most people aren't really saying much about other then he is tall, plays right, and has a right handed shot. Yeah, not impressed at all with that one for one trade. The best guy on paper when to the Habs, the guy has second line potential at least as I stated to you specifically before, and you traded that one for one for a guy who plays right D, is tall, and is unproven although yes he also has some potential against AHL opponents. What potential that is in the NHL, who knows because he hasn't played enough. So this means we get all the risk. This isn't way off base, this is just a fact.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 13:54 pm Snuggerud will shoot every bit as much as Bolduc did, and one of our other top prospects will replace Bolduc.

My problem with this deal Jack, isn't that Logan doesn't have upside. He does and I will be honest about that. My problem is there is no world where what we gave up shouldn't have brought in more. Its really just that simple. IF they weren't willing you don't do the deal. You look for other deals and you wait patiently until you get one that respects your assets enough to pay appropriately for them.

Re: Logan Mailloux is coming!!
Tim it very well could be but that is speculation and I honestly don't know how you couldn't like a young guy who worked as hard as he did. When others went to worlds, he went to the AHL if I remember correctly to get more work in and more minutes. Zac has never been described as anything but striving to improve. Maybe Monty saw something, but that is speculation and baseless speculation at that.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 17:53 pm Did you ever think that maybe our coaching staff might have seen something with Bolduc that they didn’t like? Lets just for the sake or argument say that your right though. Does it make sense to follow the advice of the coaching staff, yes but you still maximize the return you get. Again this wasn't that. IF you wanted Byrum, there is your trade chip to offer Buffalo. What you don't do is take lesser value for the asset. If you can't get them to sweeten the deal to respect your asset then you don't make the trade and you exercise patience. That is how I see it. The correct move in this case and in my opinion was to do nothing at all.

Just purely observational, but when the brass would mention prospects, Bolduc was always secondary or not mentioned. Do not feel they valued him as high as some think. Not sure why.
