Re: Hofer extended 2yr/3.4m
Huge to get this done and not worry about losing our perfect goaltending duo. Top backup goaltender that could grow into a legit starter. Throw in bring a RFA at the end!
For salary context, Hofer will make 0.5M more than Joseph and 0.6M a year LESS than Nick Leddy! That’s with a huge bump in the cap over his contract.

Hofer will be a UFA when this deal is over. Unless CapWages is wrong, this was his last RFA year. In theory, now both of our goalies could walk in two years if they are interested in the free agency sweepstakes.stlblue06 wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 13:55 pm Huge to get this done and not worry about losing our perfect goaltending duo. He’ll be an RFA. You can trust the Blues website https://www.nhl.com/blues/team/contracts

Really good pair for 2 years.
Best puck managing pair in the World perhaps

From what I understand, you want to be below the cap without the LTIR money at the start of the season to fully take advantage of it. That actually leaves the Blues with $3,461,818 to spend (without moving money out).LuvthaBlues wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 13:45 pmThat includes LTIR.leedog68 wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 13:38 pmI never know how to read that on there. Is that including the $6.5 mil LTIR money for Krug? Or in addition to it?LuvthaBlues wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 13:36 pmAbout $9,961,818 going by capwages numbers and 21 of 23 roster spots filled. They have 1 D spot and 1 F spot open with Faksa lsited as UFA.

Righ now they have us at a cap hit of $82,138,182 with LTIR of $6,500,000 and $13,361,818 in space. I just subtracted $3.4 mil from the cap space number to get the reminder. The one thing they don't account for is allowable use of LTIR in the offseason or however that works, I can't remember how teams are allowed to use that space before the season begins.

Yep. Puckpedia says the same thing.
Perfect deal. Both Binny and Hofer will be UFA and RFA respectively. So decisions will hopefully be clearer then.
And it's $9.4M for both goalies for the next two years. That's a good number IMO.

The 2 year gives Ellis another full year in the minors with call ups for injuries.
If he has another spectacular season in the A, odds are Hofer is trade bait next off season.

You would want to get Ellis up here sometime in the coming year before you do that, I imagine.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 14:43 pm The 2 year gives Ellis another full year in the minors with call ups for injuries.

Gotta consider Hofer another draft success at this point ... former 4th rounder.

Re: Hofer extended 2yr/3.4m
Looks like we got 23 guys signed and didn't break the cap. We only lost Faksa and Suter. Sounds good to me.

Yep. Most likely injuries. You aren't going to just sit Binny or Hofer.dhsux wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 14:53 pmYou would want to get Ellis up here sometime in the coming year before you do that, I imagine.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 14:43 pm The 2 year gives Ellis another full year in the minors with call ups for injuries.

Reasonable for both sides
