And a pretty weak Cleveland lineup helped too
They are extremely weak without Ramirez. Almost White Sox level.

But it was also a tremendous start by Gray.

so a very good pitcher who wants to stay here and you want to get rid of him?? And you trust Mo not to muck it up if he tried to?

A lot of the Cleveland fans around us gave him his props and the Cleveland postgame even shouted him out and gave him his due before the postgame fireworks show. It was a phenomenal performance
Did you like the stadium ?.....or have you been there many times...my buddy really liked it on his trip there...this one along with petco were a few of his favorites...

89 pitches. Very well might be his best game ever. The other team threw nearly as many strikes as Gray thru pitches.

This is our first time up here to watch the Cardinals play. It’s a nice stadium. It’s obviously been updated and you can tell the Guardians franchise has put a lot of money into it. It’s a nice ballpark. Solid 7/10. Some of the concourses are a little compact, so traffic can be a little congested, but it’s a nice ballpark. All the Cleveland fans we have talked to have been really good and respectful to us and very good baseball fans. We have enjoyed our time at the park so far. The city itself is a little underwhelming, but we are here for baseball

I want to say that was in 2012 or 2013. I know Wacha and Miles each had near no hitters in that time frame as well.
I don't remember the year, but I do remember it was Mother's day. Also, it was the first time I heard about the "game score" stat for starting pitchers.

That gesture speaks volumes about the type player Sonny Gray is . He knew that ball would mean more to Pages than if he kept it himself.
In the post game interview he said the base hit was the only time he shook Pages off all night. Might be an exaggeration but a nice gesture nonetheless.
Just saw that! (I often have to watch the archived games due to work) That would be pretty wild, if true. Either way, classy move that Pages will remember fondly. Good team chemistry it seems.

Every no-hitter I've seen was not pitched as well. But I admit, I've only seen a couple.

While your point about the front office is valid, trotting out a very good pitcher every five days, backed up by a mediocre lineup is not a strategy to ensure long term organizational success…

His NTC notwithstanding, they should at least shop him….

Sonny Gray is only the third pitcher in MLB history to throw a Maddux with over 10 strikeouts and less than two hits allowed.

Sandy Koufax (6/4/1964)
Chris Archer (8/20/2015)
Sonny Gray (today)

That outing is what fans dreamed of when he was signed. Love seeing the older vets showing the young guys how it’s done. We need the balance of both.
