He hasn’t reached his ceiling yet. Way overpaying? This isn’t 2016 man

You're right. I would have definitely lived with that contract on the Blues. NYI may feel it's easier to convert 16 and 17 into Hagens this draft than it would be to get him even with a package the Blues had sent (19 + Bolduc is probably closest to the 16+17)theograce wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 15:55 pmHe hasn’t reached his ceiling yet. Yeah Dobson stuck with his man. DeAngelo and Horvat just stood still and watched while Kadri moved in uncontested. Pretty clear defensive breakdown.seattleblue wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 15:54 pmDefinitely a product of man on man coaching scheme (somewhat common in the NHL) and exhaustion, not a flaw of the player. The goal scorer is not his man on that play.succinct712 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 14:29 pmBad coaching then.seattleblue wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 14:27 pmthat is a ridiculous criticism, they are playing man coverage and his man was up highsuccinct712 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 14:19 pm Dobson is a fine defenseman, but this is all I think about every time I hear his name after watching the Islanders lose to the Flames in OT last season.
Starting at the 3:45 mark. He skates away from the puck carrier (Kadri) and basically lets him score. I know he is fatigued, but come on!

So just how much of this is geared towards landing Hagens?
It's not like they're SOL if they don't but man if rumors true it sure looks like a greedy great deal of this move.
And how about the "local boy" effect in play here?
Everyone seems to love this move for the Habs but what about the Islanders?
