For this make sense we'd have to know the return, it wont be Kyrou for Dobson straight up for example i dont think thats enough coming back and for instance if your saying the lines end up something like this;
Buch Thomas Snuggerud
Holloway Schenn Bolduc
Neigbours FA Joseph (or whatever)
Walker FA Torop
Fowler CP
Broberg Dobson
that forward group is scary thin, Bolduc doesnt produce, Snuggerud underwhelms, injuries thats a bad hockey team.
Losing Kyrou’s offensive “regular season” production is sobering, for sure. There is always the small, in my opinion, chance that a full year of playing alongside Holloway can make a miracle. If we are stuck with him again next week, that will be my prayer.
I would not want to root for, or be on a line with, a player who is embarrassingly timid and lacks real poise.
That is one of the ugliest looks in playoff hockey. Kudos to our pros who have played like professionals alongside him. It would take a lot to speak out after he won the battle to the finish with a Stanley Cup winning coach over his “style” of play.
I think Army wants to add quality depth down the middle to what the roster already has. Find a gritty, big skilled 3rd center, Bjugstad, Glass, etc. The Blues were over the top crazy physical vs the Jets, supplementing that with another center only re inforces this and allows the team to carry a skilled forward like Kyrou.
Buch Thomas Snuggerud
Holloway Schenn Kyrou
Neighbours FA Bolduc
Walker Sunny Torop/Joseph/DD
By contrast this is a deep, skilled, gritty dangerous team

11gs in 28 playoff games is not a bad stat
It would be a most fabulous stat, if offense won Stanley Cups.
Two assists in 28 playoff games.
He should have three times as many, by accident. You have to TRY to be that invisible.
I completely understand your point, so don’t get me wrong there, but imho there’s two points to be made
One, Kyrou is paid to score goals any helpers are gravy. I’d rather he shoot than dish.
Two, assists aren’t always in the player’s control. What if you made a Gretzky-like pass and the guy fanned or broke his stick or just plain missed the net?
I appreciate your reasonable and courteous response, netboy65. Some things set me off and… I am working on it.
I understand your point. But, in 28 games, you would like to think he made more than two passes that paid off in a goal.
Garry Unger started out with the Redwings and on his first shift, he passed to Howe in their defensive zone and Howe skated it up the ice for a score. Unger said that his first thought was, “Man, I’m gonna get 900 assists this year”.
It works both ways. A gorgeous setup can be blown, for sure.
But out of all the passes Kyrou made in those 28 games, only two led to a goal? Hell, the last TWO successful passes count for assists. That is extremely telling- to me- about Kyrou’s lack of burning desire to win a shift, or a game, or a Cup.
We will have to agree to disagree but I don’t see assists as a damning stat for a sniper like him. His biggest weapon is his shot, and I want him using that weapon as much as possible. Now if Thomas or any other center weren’t getting them, that’s more telling cause that’s what the player and/or position is paid to do.

9 of those games he was quite young, mind you. 21 and 22 years old in his first two playoff years where he played as a 3rd liner at best.
Don't get me wrong, 2 assists in 19 playoff games since then isn't good either. It hasn't been confirmed but he looked incredibly out of sorts this playoff run, in a way he absolutely did not last time around. I'd imagine he was hurting. This was also likely the first time he faced the oppositions best. In 21-22 when he had 9 points in 12 games he was on a team with Tarasenko, Schwartz, ROR, Saad, etc. This was really his first taste of being the major point of focus of a defense.
Didn’t read through the whole thread but in the latest Jon Gruden unboxing video from yesterday I believe . The Blues gave him a #25 jersey and you guessed it…no Kyrou nameplate on the back. Hmmm….

Hmmm is right. That's interesting. Any significance to the #25?

2025 maybe? The year he started supporting us?
I’m guessing, but I think it’s one thing for regular folks like us to wear a certain player jersey, but another for a celebrity

Didn't know if 25 meant something to Gruden, maybe a jersey number from his playing days. Just curious.

He can score, yes, but I can't recall the last time I've seen a player so consistently stripped of the puck in the offensive zone as Kyrou vs. Winnipeg. It was seemingly every time he touched the puck. His complete lack of strength undermined his line's offensive zone time and until it improves he's more of a Mike Hoffman one trick pony.

A lot of the prototypes yesterday had the # 25 on them…because these jerseys debuted in the year 2025…
And the kid they pick this Friday will almost certainly also don #25. Another shot at Kyrou? Or just because it’s the hear 2025…the world may never know…
Just thankful the Blues were able to recover from the debacle of giving Kyrou #16 as an insult to Hull 9 years ago…

Yeah that's a thing. It's 100% because of the year. Has nothing to do with Kyrou.
