So combined, Oilers needed another $10M to $12 million in cap space between those two players alone on next year's cap. Kane trade helps, but Oil will try to move Arvidsson ($4M) as well."

Yikes, kiss Cup contention good bye gonna be hard to fill out decent depth
You have to wonder if McDavid will stay. That total contract weight just puts more and more work onto McDavid and Draisaitl to keep the team in contention.

wonder what they'll have to add to move Arvidsson.....my guess San Jose takes him.

Arvidsson has a full NMC. He's not useless or paid some outlandish salary, but still...

Man I hadn't paid attention previously but Edmonton has 7 players currently with NMC, and will soon likely have an 8th one with Bouchard.

30% of the team is under a NMC. Ooff that is going to make it really hard on ole Stan

Thats not entirely accurate- yes those players cap hits are going up that much- but he fails to mention the nhl salary cap is also going up about 7.5 million so the amount of salary they have to clear for those contract increases isnt as much as he says.

Teams know they have to shed; may cost them something.
