Cards should absolutely draft one of
Aiva Arquette, Eli Willits or Billy Carlson.
Winn I don't think is the LT solution.
Has a great arm, but other than that the
D isn't really elite and the hitting isn't either.
The big three of Walker, Gorman and Winn
are turning out to be duds.
Burleson and Donovan are the keepers here.
I expect JJ to step up and so, we need one more.
Burleson, Donovan, JJ and Billy Carlson be a nice 4some.
Not giving up on Winn, but just not superb by any means.
Why so high on jj with Walker and Gorman not living up to the hype and Winn being a league average hitter?
Because JJ has over 40% OBP and has hit .300 or better everywhere.
He's a beast.

Jordan Walker had a .317 avg/.388 OBP and .306 avg/.388 OBP in the minors with better SLG%’s than JJ when he got the call up to the MLB. And he’s stunk.
But I don’t believe that just because Walker and Gorman have struggled to live up to the hype means JJ can’t.

The fact that JJ won't skip AAA is already a key difference which greatly increases his chances to fulfill his potential.

I’d wait until he actually gets the promotion to AAA before stating that
But yea, I’d be surprised if he didn’t go to Memphis before St. Louis.
I’m still not sold on the idea that going through AAA to MLB greatly increases that potential though. Players like Rasmus, Oscar Taveras, Dylan Carlson, Nolan Gorman, etc. all went through AAA. Were they any better off than if they skipped AAA? We’d never know. Would Walker have been any better off if he went through AAA? Again, we’ll never know. Players in every organization skip AAA and have success. Players in every organization go through AAA and fail. And vice a versa as well.

It's safe to say though that he definitely wouldn't have been worse.

The team has been burned in the past signing players to extensions too quickly. Let's wait until next year to fully evaluate him. And decide then.
They've mostly gotten burned by signing older players that they knew a lot about - Matt Carpenter, Mikolas, Molina, etc. - to extensions before they needed to.
Yes. But I remember Craig fell off a cliff not long after he resigned.
They were still able to trade him for John Lackey.
I was disappointed at the time. But that turned out to be a brilliant trade.

Probably so. Just want to see it at the big league level before I start salivating.

Winn is part of the Cardinals long term future. I'm impressed with Winn this year hitting and fielding wise.
Winn almost had two homers last night. And he fields. We are building around Winn.

JJ, should he turn out to be the real deal, plays second or third. Winn is it going anywhere unless he gets hurt

I’m thinking if JJ is real, then we really need a replacement at third. Not because nado is bad, but he is gone soon.
Donovan Winn Jj. Gold a glove infield. Scott in center. Stud catcher.
We are in reset, and it’s done exactly as intended- shown which kids can play, and who can’t.
