We gave up our players and got nothing in return — thus far —- And that is the bottom line.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑23 Jun 2025 10:26 amCompletely different situations. O’Reilly was not a pending UFA at the trade deadline when we traded for him. When we trade him and the others he was going to be a pending UFA.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 10:11 am The Blues gave up prospect Tage Thompson to get ROR for their Stanley Cup run.
The Blues then lost Pietrangelo, ROR, Tarasenko, Barbashev, and Schwarz to other teams for their playoff runs.
Where is our young "Tage Thompson" in return for all of those players that we gave up?
Can somebody ask Army?
You are not going to get a top young player for a rental unless it’s an elite game changer.
We will need to see what the draft pics we received in those trades turn into. I have no regrets on the Thompson trade. I would do it 100 out of a 100 times.
Tage Thompson was traded in 2018 for a player who was not on an expiring contract.
The Blues did their mini-fire sale in 2023 with players on expiring contracts. Those players are now just reaching the NHL. It’s a pretty weak argument to try to compare the situations since Tage Thompson had a five year head start on the draft picks and really a seven year head start as he was drafted in 2016.
