The release of the first Summer Blockbuster. The film that scared millions out of the oceans everywhere. Great casting, great musical score by John Williams, great story ( book by Peter Benchley who appeared in the movie as a TV reporter), great effects using mechanical sharks named Bruce. One of the first films with a "wide release" -350 theaters on day 1. Has made over $1 billion so far.

Agreed. Overall Shaw was brilliant, but when Oscar time rolled around, it was One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest cleaning up. ABC News just did a short promo for "Jaws- 50 Years Later", next month on NatGeo TV. Remember the scene where 2 kids are swimming around with a fake shark fin only to surface and find they're surrounded by rifle wielding police? The 2 kids were brothers and one is now Chief of Police of Martha's Vineyard, where the movie was made.FrankTheTank wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 16:13 pm One of the best scenes in any movie ever -
