Lethargy, mediocrity, irrelevancy have become the Cardinal Way. This is what the brand has become. We won't make the playoffs AND we won't fix the roster. The perfect Mo legacy. We can remember him that way.

...and were completely irrelevant. No team feared us, no team struggled with us. We were just in the way, and they unceremoniously stepped over us. I remember our pitchers giving up only 2 runs in the first 8 innings of both games combined. And our 3-4 hitters who were 1 and 3 in the MVP that year being awful in the 2 games.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 13:45 pm...and were completely irrelevant. My point is, let's get lined up to do something memorable- something we are proud of. Let's be willing to do the hard things, to be patient, to set a high bar. Let's determine that hoping to contend for one of the wildcard teams is not really contending. Let's build a team for 95 wins and EXPECT to win the division. Teams like that go farther more often in the playoffs.

Many an MLBs fan base would welcome having the horror of being a Cards fan with all their history and long runs of winning records, WS, playoffs, Hall of Fame players

We didn't accomplish all of those things by being satisfied with the dog and pony show we've seen for the past 10 years.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 14:00 pmFailures by Nado and Oldy. How does your satisfaction do anything to help or hinder the Cards or their impressive history?Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 14:06 pmWe didn't accomplish all of those things by being satisfied with the dog and pony show we've seen for the past 10 years.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 14:00 pmFailures by Nado and Oldy. I didn't communicate that well. By "We", I mean the Cardinals organization, not TB or Scouty. I was citing what I believe to be low organizational standards and performance and settling for mediocrity. If you feel differently about it, that's fine.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 14:09 pmHow does your satisfaction do anything to help or hinder the Cards or their impressive history?Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 14:06 pmWe didn't accomplish all of those things by being satisfied with the dog and pony show we've seen for the past 10 years.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 14:00 pmFailures by Nado and Oldy. Exactly. It was our superstars who disappointed. We were only irrelevant because we couldn't get a little timely hitting. The team that beat us went to the WS. The above description of our helplessness was disingenuous.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 13:48 pmI remember our pitchers giving up only 2 runs in the first 8 innings of both games combined.
