You probably really don't want your GM to be a "fan" as much as you want them to be an objective decision maker.

No one listens to me. I’m an old man over the hill out to pasture. You missed my point. Any poster who didn't advocate for signing Harper when he became a FA is automatically disqualified.

Sounds like you’d be a big fan of me at the helm!

AOF, don’t you think you’re too argumentative, you’d never be able to get a trade deal done or come to a contract agreementAn Old Friend wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 10:10 am100%11WSChamps wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 10:03 am Any poster who didn't advocate for signing Harper when he became a FA is automatically disqualified.

I would say this - winning takes care of everything. Sometimes what the "fans" think they want will be contrary to giving the team the best opportunity to win. That's why a GM needs to be more dispassionate and more businesslike in their decision making.Ike Hammett wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 09:48 amYou make a fair point but an extremely vague one. Yes, it is the exact recipe and really the only thing that is important at the end of the day. What the "fans" think and want is what keeps the whole thing going. Only a person who is committed to striving in bringing that will succeed. The GM or any other executive must work towards selling that and believing in it. Therefore, the people who make those "hard decisions" are the ones who are most passionate about them on the side of the "fans". The biggest fans who love the model and organization most should make the decisions.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 08:54 amIs that really a recipe for being able to make the hard decisions necessary to keep turning the roster over to remain competitive?Ike Hammett wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 08:05 amI would vote for Cranny.Bully4you wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 09:14 am I wish there was a way to conduct a poll.

If you "best fans in baseball" want the Dodgers experience, show up 50k strong spending the big bucks and bringing the Cranny type loyalty.

Huh? We got Goldy around the same time. He was more affordable for you "business like" people, won an MVP, and was a great Cardinal. How was Harper so much better? Did he contribute to ever winning the WS? The Phillies are a lot more than just Harper. What exactly makes you so certain the Cards fate is any different with him?11WSChamps wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 10:03 am Any poster who didn't advocate for signing Harper when he became a FA is automatically disqualified.

They used to announce lineups to Led Zeppelin Kashmir. I haven't heard that the times I've been there this year.
Just educate the kid who is spinning electronic rave music. You'll have to have a fun sing-along song in your pocket for mid-game. No Neil Diamond please.

Did you see that crowd at the foam party at ballpark village last night? That's what's up! DJ Dex is bringing the good stuff to the younger crowd, Cards need to focus more on drawing attention towards younger cooler people, older folks should understand and go with the flow.RunSup wrote: ↑14 Jun 2025 11:13 amYou have the board.
