The fact remains, he replaced Gorman with a pinch hitter that struck out twice, on a total of six pitches. Gorman hopefully, is laughing his (donkey) off.

That was a bad move. If you were going to pinch hit there it should have been Pozo but I would have let Gorman hit.Rocket Scientist wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 17:25 pm The fact remains, he replaced Gorman with a pinch hitter that struck out twice, on a total of six pitches. But you and the others like you don't just do that and you know it. You make it personal and blame him for every thing that goes wrong in the game but if it goes well it's despite of him. And that gets real old. Maybe your valid complaints would carry more weight if you had an ounce of objectivity.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 12:18 pmQuestioning and criticizing a manager's job performance isn't a personal attack. I dont agree with every move he makes. I could care a less if Bloom replaces him. But the constant attacks on him are personal and very limited in thought.
As for my typing, I am 67 and will admit these small phone keyboards and screens are not my friend. I am guilty of poor typing.
As for being a day drinker, I dont drink at all and never have. And am far from a huge fan of Mo.
1. I gave oli credit for the team's above expectations start this season. So saying I'm not objective is false.
2. My criticisms are legitimate and tied to his bad decisions and poor leadership involving past events.
3. Nobody claimed you are a drinker. I said you were typing angry.
I didn't find any posts going back some ways where you are not critical of Oli if you mention him. Obviously I only went back so far so I guess if you say you did then I assume you are not lying.
You did not call me a day drinker. That was another poster WTLFE. That was my mistake and I apologize. That did make me angry because my brother was killed by an alcoholic when I was 16 so I have never drank alcohol. But that wasn't you that said that.

I spent very little time trying to second guess LaRussa or Duncan. They were running the show and I loved it. I am enjoying the Cardinals this year and credit Oli with some of that. He put us in a situation to win last night. We didn't get it done. Oli is respected by the owner, the POBO and his players. That works for me. He had no chance in '23. LaRussa wouldn't have taken the reign on that team. Oli appears to me to be better this year than last. I don't see glaring errors, just execution issues. Any major league manager can manage the Dodgers. Anybody can find things to complain about with Oli. That holds no sway with me. The focus is on players executing.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 18:42 pmApparently you are interested since you replied twice.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 18:32 pmCorrection. And BTW, LaRussa is in Cooperstown. Second most wins as a manager.

I’ve never been a fan of Oli’s, but he seems to be improving. He is regressing, that isn't improving. Falling into some bad habits. I hope he is gone as soon as the season is over.Cranny wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 19:59 pmI’ve never been a fan of Oli’s, but he seems to be improving. Getting this load of (bleep) to a winning record and second place, he’s manager of the year.
Re: When managing matters most Oli is awful
Same here. He still has his favorites, and you cannot manage that way, no matter who it is. And he has players he obviously does not trust and buries, like Gorman, even though he has been trending up and the FO said this was going to be the year we find out about Gorman and Walker.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 20:08 pmHe is regressing, that isn't improving. They have to send Roycroft down forever, or for at least the rest of the season. Otherwise our idiot manager will keep using him with the same result every time. We could have won that game. The offense must be going nuts

+1 only an idiot would bring roycroft into a game that isn’t a blow outbccardsfan wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 21:27 pm They have to send Roycroft down forever, or for at least the rest of the season. Cards Talk complains when the other pitchers are used.
Oli can only use the guys in the bullpen that are given to him by Mo and Co.

He can also refuse to use a guy who is gasoline on a fire every time he pitches. In a game that isn't over.

As well as O'brien, can't have bullpen arms that allow runs 50% of the timebccardsfan wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 21:27 pm They have to send Roycroft down forever, or for at least the rest of the season.
