If we traded Noot, what would that get us? What do we need? Noot should we worth at least as much as Colby, if not more. And Colby’s trade won us a WS.
Rasmus was considered to have much more upside at the time
Why? Just because of his draft order?
A lot of people consider Noot to have considerable upside.
Rasmus was a centerfielder. Rasmus was also younger when we traded him.
Also despite cardinals notnbeing pleasednwith rasmus, he had a .753 ops during year we traded him and had a .859 ops the year before we traded him. Noot never has had a .859 ops. Rasmus was far better than cardinals fans remember. There was just the drama with his dad.
Granted league offense was a little higher back then, but yeah- rasmus had better offensive upside and was an actual centerfielder. And had a year far better rhan anything noot had and was several years younger.
I am quickly becoming a let's see what Noot can get backer. His enthusiasm was a bright spot for many. However he has just not lived up to the hype. He is definitely one player that has gotten a fair shot at making something happen. I think as many have said the management is going to do what they can to push younger players to play and show to offer competition. Get rid of the dead weight contracts and get the budget lean. Go into 2026 with a fair amount of youth to challenge guys like Noot to put up or shut up. No matter what I think Arenado is gone if not by deadline, then end of year. I think Marmol will be gone also end of season. I think Bloom is going to want to bring in his guy to get a fresh set of faces looking at and evaluating what's here. Let the bias's be gone. Noot will not survive another year as a Cardinal unless he can put something together quickly. He at least could draw a walk at a reasonable rate but now is striking out way too much. Scott is another one that is floundering. Koperniak may not be hitting this year like in the past but sometimes guys get a shot and run with it. he has the talent and I think is part of the problem. he keeps just barely getting there and they send him back down. Same as Baker. They get little tastes of being able to play then get buried. Yet guys like Walker and Scott get game after game to fail. It used to be Gorman but he too has been buried as of late. I just don't think this team is putting the best players available out there. Koperniak and Saggesse deserve a long look at this point.

Do we have Pujols on this team? The best managerial job since Herzog was Matheny taking the Cardinals to the world series without Pujols, Rasmus or Ewin Jackson.

Please do yourself a favor and look at Rasmus’s stats in STL. And that’s as a CFer…

Trade Nootbar and we get to the world series?
How impressive, making a world series without Rasmus or Edwin Jackson.

He's been a very good lead-off hitter doing his job which is to get on base and he's done that at a .347 clip this season which is right where his career .348 OB% say's he should be.
I'm extending both Noot and Donovan at seasons end, buying out their remaining ARB seasons and first two FA years if they're interested.

LMAO
I’m guessing he meant “since LaRussa”. I’d hope so anyway.

It wasn’t even really about the manager itself, it was about the idea that the loss of Rasmus and Jackson is even mentionable.

That was odd. Should’ve stopped at Pujols. Probably a few other more notable departures than non-factors CR/EJ.
For someone with as good of tools and plate approach as Noot has, he goes weirdly cold for unexpectedly long stretches.
Like how does someone who hits the ball that hard, doesn't whiff that much, and has great pitch identification have a .665 OPS in May and a .536 OPS already in June? And a career low .145 ISO while a career high EV (91.9mph, the 84th percentile in all of baseball)?
I don't think I've ever seen a single player who has so inexplicably failed to add up to the sum of all his tools like Nootbaar so far in his career. This is not me saying I think it'll never happen, but it's truly bizarre that it hasn't happened yet. It makes me wonder if there's some unidentified factor that is preventing that fulfillment of potential.

The Cardinals received VERY little value in the Rasmus trade. It was probably considered addition by subtraction.
I would say they got a VERY good return they got several players that were important in their winning the World Series
Rasmus had 1.6 bWAR with the Cardinals in 2011. Jackson, Patterson, Dotel and Rzepczynski had a combined 0.4 bWAR for the Cardinals in 2011.
