I like Oil giving VSII a breather today, kids in a horrible slump (Last 42 PA: .056 .171 .056 .226).

I'd have liked to have seen Norman rewarded w/a start at 2B (Donny in LF and Bison on the bench).

Hope we can give Kershaw yet another bad Cardinal memory before he hangs em' up.

GO CARDS!
Especially with barrero in cf, having burly in rf is scary OF defense.

We should've learned by now wattage, Burly is an Oli favorite.

No way Gorman, after yesterdays big game, should've been benched for Bumbles to play today. ::crazya::

Oli "The Cooler" strikes again
According to 101ESPN the other day, they said Oli does this so players like Gorman can build confidence and feel good about their game for a few days in hopes it carries into the long term, whereas going out and putting up an 0 fer against Kershaw would likely send his head back to square one.

It's not the worst idea I've ever heard.
Oh I hope that’s not true if so oli is more dumb than I thought. A player isn’t going to be riding the bench several days feeling good they’re going to be frustrated thinking what more do I have to do get in some games? Then they will probably start pressing
Mo and the game strategist make the lineups. Oli just delivers the copy to the ump.
No they don’t
Mo said it himself two years ago. Oli gets input. But he does not make his own lineups.
Do you have a link to thati? I looked online and didnt see an arrticle online thar indicated that. I know there have been times when the front office wanted a certain player to get at bats.

Even if somewhat true it is not usisual in this day and age for a front office to offer stong opinions on who plays when.

Time will tell about the KC kid. Looks like a player but there's no book on him yet and they were playing the White Sox. We'll see.

If you say so. There is no evidence I can find about it. I think that would have caused quite a stir if he said it the way you say he did. Mo does decide who's on the roster and I know has dictated certain players getting playing time at certain times, like Gorman before he was sent down and Walker when he was bought up in 2024. I am sure the front office had a lot to say about Scott and Libatore getting the 2025 exposure. And, front offices in a lot of places have a big influence on who plays. But, I am sure Ollie has more to say about his lineups and game decisions then you seem to think.

He’s only at 1.2 WAR on the season. We are 2 or so weeks from halfway. We need more from our established regulars.

How much did Rasmus get us in trade in 2011? Noot should we worth even more than that in TV, right?

Mo stated that each game day, he, the strategist, oli, the hitting coach, and pitching coach meet to formulate the game plan. He said oli and his coaches have input. But it's not solely oli making lineups.

It was discussed on this board several times.

So who bats leadoff if Noot doesn't? And he currently leads the team in HRs even with a recent slump. And ESPN has him at 1.5 WAR, similar to many other regulars throughout the league. Noot is never going to be a star but when he is going well he gets on base and has a good eye. I would trade him for a good return but you are unlikely to get much back better than he is. And you still need a lead off hitter. I don't see one on the team right now unless Victor Scott walks more and figures out how to hit more consistently.

You are right. Of course you know what I heard.
I heard an interview that said exactly the opposite
Great. I know what I heard. It was what I said earlier. If you believe marmol runs this team on his own, I don't know what to tell you. Stay in your la la land.
I don't believe Mo ever said what you said he did, at least not that definitely as you indicate, as there is no evidence of it. I also don't think many managers run their team alone this day and age. I do think Marmol has a lot more say in the daily lineups then you think, and people like Derrek Goold and Bernie Mikolas have alluded that he does. So maybe your original premise that he has nothing to do with the lineup is the la la land version. Some people on here will say anything to have an excuse to bash Marmol.

Believe me, Robert, I don't need to make things up to have reasons to blast marmol. He provides enough material on his own.

As for whether or not you (or anyone else), believes what I post, I don't care. I know what I heard. Others on here have also mentioned it. So let's just agree to disagree.

As for Goold, he writes whatever the organization allows. And Bernie changes positions frequently. I take most of their work with a grain of salt.

Got it. You can't prove what you claim and when challenged on it you go into attack mode.

Amd the Marmol dissing is getting old. The team overperformed last year and is over performing expectations this year.. Marmol may or may not end up as a above above Manager but he doesn't deserve the constant harping he gets. Its intellectually lazy. His team plays hard and they play good defense.

Who is in attack mode? I made a post and you asked where my info came from. I gave you the answer and you continue to say it's not true. I said let's agree to disagree. That's not an attack.

I also said I don't buy 100% of what Goold and Bernie say. I provided legitimate reasons. That's not an attack, it's fact.

This current team is playing well above expectations. I give oli and his staff credit for that. However, saying an 84-78 team exceeded expectations is a stretch. They were on target at best. He was also a major reason for the dumpster fire of 2023. That cannot be argued.

Nothing I've said is outlandish. Nor is it a set of attacks. If you don't agree, fine. But I stand by what I've posted because I heard the interview.
