Closing before closing time!!!

Re: Closing before closing time!!!
If there is a posted closing time, they should serve anyone who comes in up to one second before that time. Closing time should mean the time the last customer can come in.
Re: Closing before closing time!!!
Not sure how a complaint about some kids wanting to blow out of work a bit early turned into an indictment against free markets or an entire generation, but anyway I have a bit of a different story about closing early.
When I was a teenager, I worked at a gas station that rented movies. A customer came in to return a few movies that had an extra night of late fees and I could smell they were up to something “What time do you guys close?” I said, “Eight(PM).”
“Well, I came by last night at five minutes to eight and you guys were closed.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I misunderstood your question. We are open 24 hours.”

What I like most is that thread gave you a chance to virtue signal how you don't complain at all about service or expectations from places you frequent. The problem with this site is that you don't have the benefit of receiving "likes." People like you seem to need that. I'm glad you had this opportunity to demonstrate your superiority.-ocaj wrote: ↑26 May 2025 23:13 pmDid that make you feel better? After a few minutes, we drove up to the window. Workers inside saw us and hid. The wife knocked on the window, asking if something was wrong inside. This was at around 9:55. My wife continued to knock on the window, and we started hearing the workers who were hiding say, "Tell them we are closed." Finally, a young man came to the window and said that they were closed, followed by they couldn't wait on us since we got there a minute before closing time. A minute? That (upset) me off and I told the young man that I would call management the next day.
That young man had to be laughing at me. I have called five times now, and no one will answer the phone. When I get a chance, I intend to stop by now. It didn't start to be such a big deal, but now, ...
Finish the story!! Did you call corporate? Or did you go back in person to give them a piece of your mind? I hope they gave you a coupon for free sweet treats in the future. Hell hath no fury like a fossil scorned his soft serve, lol.
If it's the latter I guarantee that mgmt is like 'you won't be missed'.
12 minutes before close? That's some ahole entitlement right there. 'Serve me now you or else you insufferable Plebian!'
You're lucky they didn't serve you, you probably would have gotten a 'special'.
Re: Closing before closing time!!!
Good for you, you got to claim 'virtue signaling' on someone despite the fact that you are one half of a couple knocking on drive through windows 2 or even 12 minutes before they close demanding service NOW!Voldemort wrote: ↑27 May 2025 06:29 amWhat I like most is that thread gave you a chance to virtue signal how you don't complain at all about service or expectations from places you frequent. Here, I'll help make your day. "Like" There, now, you can appreciate that your virtue signal worked and that you are superior and have a "Like."-ocaj wrote: ↑27 May 2025 23:18 pmGood for you, you got to claim 'virtue signaling' on someone despite the fact that you are one half of a couple knocking on drive through windows 2 or even 12 minutes before they close demanding service NOW!Voldemort wrote: ↑27 May 2025 06:29 amWhat I like most is that thread gave you a chance to virtue signal how you don't complain at all about service or expectations from places you frequent. Or, in Steven Wright's world: "I went to a convenient store whose sign read they were open 24 hours. The manager was locking the door and turning all the lights out. I said "Hey, the sign says you're open 24 hours." He replied, "Not in a row."Bighorn66 wrote: ↑27 May 2025 04:26 am Not sure how a complaint about some kids wanting to blow out of work a bit early turned into an indictment against free markets or an entire generation, but anyway I have a bit of a different story about closing early.

Re: Closing before closing time!!!
If you're going inside to eat, just be prepared to see the few remaining employees with their hands on their hips, checking their watches, and staring a hole right through you. Still wanna eat there?
Fast food drive thrus have a predicament about leaving the lights on or turning them off at closing time. If they turn the lights out, drivers passing by late at night, not familiar with the area, might not notice the site for future reference. If they leave the lights on to be seen by passing motorists, they risk a frustrated hungry customer pulling in and not being served.

Re: Closing before closing time!!!
People like Ocaj and the workers at this DQ are from the generation who don't like to put in a hard days work.
Re: Closing before closing time!!!
If that is the case, then they should post closing time as 30 minutes before whatever time they post now. The posted time should be the time the last customer can come in. The posted hours should be the hours in which they serve customers.Pink Freud wrote: ↑29 May 2025 09:14 amIf you're going inside to eat, just be prepared to see the few remaining employees with their hands on their hips, checking their watches, and staring a hole right through you. Re: Closing before closing time!!!
Here's an extreme example from just a few months ago. When we noticed the hours (4 to 8 p.m.) posted on a permanent sign in front of the restaurant in question, I checked my phone: 7:38. We asked for a table and were told that the kitchen closed at 7:30. Logic, common sense, and close to pleading (we were dressed up and had traveled from a distance) fell on deaf ears. No alternative (such as "we could do a drink and an appetizer") was offered, but an alternative restaurant was, so that's where we went.
I had addressed the closing time issue (for full-service restaurants) in this article from 2019, which I passed along to the restaurant owner (who by the way was very apologetic). https://www.stlmag.com/dining/ask-georg ... -can-you-/
