What you’re missing is- this is a sign of a great team- players going into slumps. That means two great things are happening. One, to slump you must be hot, so there’s that. And this great attribute, on this team, when 5 are on their predicted struggles, two carry the team.

Nice thing about having lineup depth is that it’s hard for the entire lineup to go cold at the same time, so they’re finding ways to win.

Arizona is not exactly a bad team. They came in to our series with a 26-24 record, just 1 game worse than us. And we faced 3 of their 4 best SPs. 1 of which had a 1.88 ERA over his previous 7 starts before we put up 4 runs in 6 innings on him.

Yep, ebbs and flows of how the schedule works. Cubs played a brutal schedule to begin the season. Fortunately the easy part is coming to an end pretty soon.
After next 6 vs Reds and Nats they play the following schedule into the AS break.

3 vs Milwaukee
3 vs Seattle
4 @ STL

Noticed the scrubs have really feasted on the AL going 8-1, let's hope that gets closer to .500 during the upcoming stretch!
And they've also already played the NL West 26 times (15-11) vs the Cardinals playing the NL West only THREE GAMES (3-0 DBACKS).
That stinker 1st game against the Orioles, the bottom of the lineup featured 3 guys with sub -.600 OPS hitting together.
If you had guys hitting behind Walker or Arenado or Gorman or whoever, that might make a big difference. I think when you're shoved into a group of 3 bad hitters like that, they can throw you whatever they want, so if you can manage to accomplish anything hitting low in the order (#9 excepted obviously), that's an achievement.
Walker is still not a good hitter, and he still has obvious trouble with pitch recognition. But it's only May 29 and the progress is visible. He still has top 3 bat speed, so his potential is incredible. It's much easier to believe that he can get there now.
Then again, we've seen him improve before and it didn't take. Plenty of time, though, he's just a kid.

Highest exit velo by a long shot. Not hard to believe imo. 99% bat speed.
What is pretty mind boggling is that Walker has 1 LESS RBI than Donovan .. 24 to 23 and Walker did that playing in 6 less games than Donnie, 48 less At Bats, and Donovan avg . 335 to Walkers .215 !! Hard to believe but it's true !

When he connects he just nukes balls into the ground and the blast through the infield or sometimes he elevates. I hope he gets figured out this year. 80 RBI!
