On a PTO for league minimum? Absolutely.

WPG and ANA will be the front runners but don't discredit Army's relationship with Toews either from being GM of Hockey Canada.

I'd rather sign Kermit the Frog to a two way contract.

There’s no such thing as a PTO for league minimum. A PTO is just a player try-out. That’d just be a player invited to camp where the team will cover travel and a hotel room but there’s no guaranteed contract.

I’d expect Toews to be seeking a 1 year 35+ contract as those contracts can have performance bonuses attached to them (like Suter’s was this season). So something around league minimum to $1M salary but then another $2-3M potentially if he hits certain performance metrics - usually games played or points scored.

I read a story a month or so ago that talked of Toews’ comeback pursuit. He talked about skating with some friends/current NHLers this summer and that’d truly tell him if he’s able to still play at that level or not.

As for if the Blues should pursue him, I have no idea. It’s pretty much all depend on if he can get himself back up to speed. I doubt he’d be willing to come to camp on a PTO as he’ll have more leverage than that as someone will be willing to give him a contract. But if he can actually play and is over his health issues, then yeah, a 1 year incentive based contract for him to be the 3C would be an option. Likely not Plan A or even Plan B but it’s a legit option to consider.

You're right. It would have been more accurate if I initially suggested brining Toews in on a PTO during camp and if it looked promising during camp, sign him to a 1-year deal.

Not really in my wishes. Toes was good intermittently. Very good for that Blackhawks team. We have enough supplies on hand and plenty ways to grab bigger fish if we even need them. And we don't. Let's use what we have if necessary, to bump up an already potent Blues team.

If he's interested in coming to St. Louis, absolutely I'd give him a flyer at 1 year. I hated that guy with every fiber of my being and that's the type of guys you want on your team.

I would absolutely sign Toews. Then I would dress him every night and not give him one shift all season - because screw Toews and the Hawks! :D
