Toews looking to make a comeback, would you for 1 year & league min?

Post by ZouMiz2424 »

He is 37 and hasn't played in 2 years. Would have to be a 3rd or 4th line C. I don't think it's a good idea. Also, looking back at his stats, I thought he was a lot better than he actually was. He only had 2 seasons over 70 pts. I guess all the winning they did made him seem like a superstar

I'm fairly certain he's going to Winnipeg.

Well keep in mind 76 points was good for 12th in the NHL in 2010 but yes the Hawks had incredible depth and the management was for sure the 1st star of those teams.

37 yr old with long covid and other assorted injuries who hasn't played in two years? What could possibly go wrong.

I'd rather sign Kermit the Frog to a two way contract.

He was easily one of the best players in the game at the time with a compete that was off the charts. He was like Nate Mack that way…hockey is life. Judging him by points misses everything he brought. Defense, face offs, leadership … and Captain clutch.

Quenneville. He'd be a good mentor for their young stars.

But yeah, I'd have to think either Winnipeg, Anaheim, or Chicago to mentor Bedard.

Which is the better bet at this point, Corey Perry or Toews?

Probably that same thing that happened that night over Macho Grande

At league minimum I'm sure Army would consider it.

I don't think I would for the BLUES right now. But a lot of good thoughts above re other potential destinations...
Chicago has probably moved on and Bedard now has two years of experience as an NHLer with Foligno there as a guidepost.
Anaheim could make sense with all of that youth and especially if they were to add Mitch Marner, but most importantly to augment the Quenneville message in the Room.
Winnipeg deserves better to fill out for what is currently a great window of opportunity...assuming their goalie can really win when it counts. Their fans and Toews might feel good about it, and the fans could use it. But they need to lead with their brain and not their heart.
Maybe Berube could use a bit of his compete in Toronto, to shake some sense into a few of them?
Or maybe he has not choice but to hang them up?
