Re: Andre Granillo
Does anyone know what happened his junior year at Cal Riverside? He was always a reliever there, but his freshman year he pitched 32 1/3 innings, his sophomore year was covid, and then his junior year he only pitched 10 1/3 innings. He followed that, though, with pitching 11 innings in Cape Cod with a 0.909 WHIP.

is his name pronounced gruh NEEO ?Cranny wrote: ↑28 May 2025 08:12 am What does he have to do to get promoted? So far at Memphis this season -
IP - 22 2/3
Hits - 14
Ks - 35
BBs - 7
ERA - 1.19
WHIP - 0.926
Big right hander - 6’4”, 250 lbs. 25 years old.
Drafted in 2021 out of the U. of California - Riverside.
Would take him by far over Roycroft.
Re: Andre Granillo
Can’t comment on his stuff/etc as I have never seen him pitch.
Sounds like a prospect.
So far Graceffo has shown promise.
Svanson is currently up and that leaves Fernandez,
Munoz, O’Brien, and Roycroft who have all had looks.
As someone else mentioned they would have to add him to the 40 man first and my guess is that wouldn’t be a problem after they cycle through those other guys.
Can he be any worse than Roycroft???

The Reset Plan has been reset.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑28 May 2025 08:25 amRemember our reset plan. Gotta sell Hells.so this is the year to see. See who can play, endure and sustain at this level.craviduce wrote: ↑28 May 2025 08:22 am FB/Slider combo is legit.
I've followed since the 2021 draft, and he's been underrated it seems for a while. He had a hiccup in the Texas League in April 2023, but overcame it the last 4 months to look like a legit closer for the future. He's been middle/long relief for Memphis since 2024. Closing duties are usually given to Riley O'Brien or Roycroft at Memphis.
I really want him in the BP in St. Louis...as for the closer role? You just hand that to a rookie....you have know idea how he'll respond to the majors.
Helsley, Arenado, Matz, Mikolas and even Fedde will stay for the playoff run.
Mo will add a reliever. If it's from within then even better. He doesn't have to get up from his recliner.
Bloom will make Helsley a Qualifying Offer. If he takes it, Hells Bells is the closer next year. If not then the Cardinals get a compensation pick.
Book it, Dano. These predictions are gold, Jerry! Pure gold.

The re-set plan is still in progress. Phase 1 of the payroll re-set has taken place. Phase 2 of the payroll re-set will take place at the deadline. Finally, phase 3 of the payroll re-set will be complete with the completion of the Gray and Contreras contracts.
The heavy lifting has been done for the front office re-set. They have opened new departments, made key hires, and begun to make philosophical changes. When the change at the top happens- that part will be re-set.
What they haven't done yet, is re-set the roster. They will get younger at the major league level, but they will also get younger and better at the minor league level. Have you looked at some of the ages on the Memphis roster? Or, for that matter, have you seen the Memphis lineups that craviduce posts? For the most part they are putrid. They won't miss the opportunity to get younger and better by holding on to these guys and then letting them walk.
If, by some chance, Helsley is not traded they will not extend him a qualifying offer.
Just one man's opinion.

Re: Andre Granillo
Maybe by a couple of rounds... still 'just a reliever' so those types don't tend to get over drafted.Cranny wrote: ↑28 May 2025 15:31 pmThanks. I've liked Granillo for a long-time, have thought he and Svanson were high likelihood back of the bullpen type of guys.
Re: Andre Granillo
I also would like to see him in the 314
Re: Andre Granillo
Sorry there is no room at the inn. We need space for the Roycrofts of the world in St. Louis.
Re: Andre Granillo
Maybe Rob Cerfolio's new minor league instructors have helped him.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑28 May 2025 08:53 am It may be because it's only 22.2 IP, and last year at AAA he had an astronomical BB-rate (5.98 BB/9), a problem he's had at every level. This year, his BB/9 is only 2.78 in those 22.2 innings, so maybe they want to give him some more innings to see if this newfound control is real or a small-sample anomaly.
Last year at AAA: 46.2 IP, 5.98 BB/9, 1.37 WHIP, 4.82 ERA, 4.85 FIP
This year at AAA: 22.2 IP, 2.78 BB/9, 0.93 WHIP, 1.19 ERA, 2.11 FIP
Throughout his minor league career, his BB-rates have been excessive (until the 22.2 innings this season). And by excessive, I mean an average of 4.97 BB/9. If he's truly gotten his BB-rate under control and stabilized, it would be a career-changer--his K-rate and BA-against already play. But hard to confidently draw that conclusion based on just 22.2 IP, especially given his track record.

Re: Andre Granillo
Maybe. But Bloom and Cerfolio are analytically inclined, so they’ll likely want to see more than 22 innings before drawing any firm conclusions about a heretofore chronic problem.Cranny wrote: ↑28 May 2025 16:49 pmMaybe Rob Cerfolio's new minor league instructors have helped him.NYCardsFan wrote: ↑28 May 2025 08:53 am It may be because it's only 22.2 IP, and last year at AAA he had an astronomical BB-rate (5.98 BB/9), a problem he's had at every level. This is a horrible strategy for the team to follow. So, it’s a safe bet Mo will follow it completely.RunSup wrote: ↑28 May 2025 14:40 pmThe Reset Plan has been reset.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑28 May 2025 08:25 amRemember our reset plan.
