Bucky is literally a super-soldier. Lifting a several ton vehicle isn't that difficult for him.Cool Papa Con wrote: ↑29 Oct 2024 04:50 amFinally, maybe more bad editing, but it looked like Bucky somehow amassed super human strength to pull back on a Humvee speeding away with so much force as to flip it?

It had a pretty good commentary on mental health, which added substance to the plot. The subject matter in that regard was more serious than a lot of recent MCU movies.Targaryen wrote: ↑03 May 2025 14:15 pmHaven't seen it yet, but it's got the highest Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoies scores for any MCU movie since Spider-Man: No Way Home (yes, higher than Deadpool & Wolverine). For perspective, there have now been 13 MCU movies released since Avengers: Endgame, and the only ones with higher critical acclaim than Thunderbolts* are Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Admittedly, there have been a lot of mediocre to bad MCU movies in that bunch, but it seems like this one is actually pretty decent. I think The Fantastic Four: First Steps will probably also do well with critics when it comes out in two months.DJ Davis wrote: ↑02 May 2025 16:33 pm I thought this was a solid MCU flick. Sentry is a badass. Good mix of humor and emotion with this rag-tag group of misfits.
Spoiler
Fantastic Four enters the universe in the post credits scene. Perhaps confirming the theories of how that movie ends. But we’ll see, as we don’t exactly know who is on the ship. Probably them, but is Doom on there too? Or was he in he 616 all along, unknown as a villain? That seems unlikely.

Florence Pugh jumped off the roof of the second tallest building in the world for one of her stunts. The lawyers at Disney were not initially thrilled about her doing this stunt. Her inner Tom Cruise is showing...

It was good. I saw it last Friday, and really enjoyed it. It is different from other MCU movies, less smash and more character reflection, if that makes sense? Florence Pugh & David Harbour were both really strong, and worked well together. The comedy was good, but the somewhat downer vibe was actually welcome, since these aren't really superheroes, more hired assassins who have to live with the life they have chosen and the consequences that go along with it. Visually, it was really well done, and the story moves along. I would recommend seeing it in the theatre.

Marvel has apparently spoiled the big reveal at the end of the film that essentially explains the meaning of the asterisk in the original title by putting out a bunch of promotional posters with the film's alternate title.

General consensus among critics is that this might be the strongest MCU release since Endgame - the franchise definitely needed a big win after the past few years of general mediocrity.

Re: Thunderbolts*
Why is there an asterisk in the movie's title?
Re: Thunderbolts*
Literally just read the thread maybe, or even just the most recent post? Or is it just a one-way street on who has to suffer through whose posting around here?

I know you posted this to be funny, and I get it, but did make me think...who hasn't been in Marvel or DC?Every actor in the business hasn't played a super hero or villain yet so plenty of fodder remaining.
Keanu Reeves?
Al Pacino?
Leo?
It's a pretty short list.

Robert De Niro has yet to play two villains in the same movie.FrankTheTank wrote: ↑16 May 2025 09:51 amI know you posted this to be funny, and I get it, but did make me think...who hasn't been in Marvel or DC?Every actor in the business hasn't played a super hero or villain yet so plenty of fodder remaining.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Adam Sandler would be pretty hilarious, but hey weirder things have happened (Brad Pitt). I think Leo and Tom Cruise are the two biggest names to never be in one. Well...Tom Hanks.Reeves was in Constantine (DC)

Hanks has better things to do with his time like providing a cameo in the best movie of 2025: "Freaky Tales".FrankTheTank wrote: ↑19 May 2025 09:49 amOh yeah, forgot about that. I was completely on the fence about this one since I've had really no desire to see any of Marvels recent outputs, and quite frankly I haven't, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Well acted, well written, good action, and a good ending.
It won't bring the MCU back as a lot of apathy has set in, but it is well done.

Good breakdown, pretty much how I was. The movie is more then what they have been doing lately; smash, boring story, smash, fight, boring story, repeat. It looks at what their lives are like, and how they are just pawns for a much bigger game. It actually had some real storytelling. haI was completely on the fence about this one since I've had really no desire to see any of Marvels recent outputs, and quite frankly I haven't, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
