If the Oil beat Dallas, big if......but if they do I know this will be the most cliche thing you read on the board today but man it's true......it's the goaltending for EDM. If they get the Skinner that started the LA series FL might not lose a game in that series. If they get the Skinner (or Pickard) who showed up at the end of the LA series and most of the Vegas series, well then we might have a real solid series to discuss.

It should also be noted that Bob has been standing on his head for the better part of the playoffs. We talk about how fluid and nasty the Panthers offense is and how well the D plays, but he has saved their hides more than once.

All of this of course assumes FL continues to knee pipe the Canes. Not seeing much to show me this series goes past five games after last night.

Canes were not connected most all night. I think Rod will have something to say about that.

Florida my least fave team of the four standing. They lack a personality for me. They're like a bunch of machines.
I'm not sure I agree with you about the "not connected" thing. I love Brindamour as a coach, but I really don't see this series having a long shelf life. The Panthers are that good and they looked like that machine you reference while the Canes looked anything but. There is a whole lot of recent evidence what when the Canes get to this spot they turn into last night's New York Knicks (if you don't know that reference go look it up, it's glorious in the lexicon of sports gacks). If the Canes come out and win tonight well then we have ourselves a series, maybe. If not, I'm not sure it goes much past 5.

Canes can play a hell of a lot better than they did in game 1.

Not taking anything away from Florida but I thought Carolina just played poorly and never found their own game.

Like you said, we shall see.

As much fun as the Oilers-Stars game was to watch in its run 'n gun, firewagon hockey pace...my wife mentioned after the first period that it wasn't even remotely as physical as any of the Panthers games. Whoever wins this Edm.-Dallas series is going to have to gulp a lot of ibuprofen and keep a good chiropractor on speed dial for the Finals if they face Florida, who were built just for this.

Florida credited with 47 hits

Oilers credited with 47 hits

definitely a modern dynasty if they get to the cup again.

what i find amazing, is how if they get a lead, u might as well throw the towel in as an opponent. barkov just locks things RIGHT down.

and i hate the panthers... tkachuk makes me sick to look at, same with marchand, but u cant deny the ability.

Has Sweep written all over it. Panthers are loaded and rolling. Adding Seth Jones and Marchand make things almost unfair.

Law guys always jump on wagons

19-4 over their last 4 wins.

Yikes
In my defense, I jumped on before the success. The last Huby year was the first time I was down in Sunrise regularly. Now I’ve probably been to all but two of the playoff games down here since the Vegas playoff run and they were still questioned at that point. Having a blast at the games down here with the same group of fans in the section.

But yea, they are built for this time of year.
If the Cats keep playing like they are nobody can beat them. They cover so well everywhere on the ice. Talk about opportunistic. They capitalize on most of their opportunities. Not really a mean streak in them, just tough hitting hockey.
And, unlike the Blues, they are very aggressive toward the point men while killing penalties. Nonstop D pressure in their own zone, 5 on 5 and during the PK. Monty has a lot of work to do to straighten out the penalty killing and the 5 on 6.

I didn’t think I would say that hockey is boring, but I watched a few minutes of that Fl / Canes game in the 2nd period and it was just so one-sided and then to look at the disheartened fans it was such a downer and I’m not gonna watch the third period.

I said that last night with Edmonton leading three to one. I could care less if Dallas wins or Edmonton or Florida or Carolina so until I pick a team to root for (probably will wait till the Stanley Cup round itself) i’m just soured on the whole thing. I follow the Blues and ex blues players who I had a strong feeling toward (happy for Mikkola and Walman, but they ere no Perron or Oshie

Yeah, Carolina might make a big comeback in the third period like Dallas did (that I didn’t watch) but I don’t want to see Florida dominate anymore because I’m tired of that team. They’ve been in the finals twice and they are not my team so I don’t give a blast. Any sour on the playoffs at this point and some of these one sided games?

It's not entertaining at all unless you're a Florida fan. But I guess you have to tip your hat to the Panthers for dominating this far into the playoffs. But Carolina has been a total disgrace in the ECFs, now having lost 14 straight and being outscored 10-2 in their building in this series.
