The ending was heartbreaking. That being said, the last few months were the most fun I have ever had being a Blues fan outside of the 2019 run.

I can't even imagine how [shirt]ty your life must be to (buzz) about that.

Sometimes I wonder about guys like you ASOGG. When your day is over and you head upstairs from your mom’s basement to eat your grillled cheese sandwich and malted milk balls, do you look back on your day with pride? Are you pleased with what you’ve accomplished? I mean, part of me understands it I suppose. If I was a 34 year old walrus of a man who’d never known the touch of a woman I might be a miserable troll too. But still man, it’s not too late. Take a shower, eat some fruit, go for a walk. Take a little pride in yourself and get some help. This forum will be here when you’re ready to participate again like a normal person.
I feel good knowing that I may have influenced some St Louis citizens with facts and my opinion. I live in a town where I was crushed to see my football team leave twice. The Kroenke exit was foretold by very poor team handling, handling that looked WAY DIFFERENT than what the other teams were doing.

I've learned in my life to not sit back and let management hand me what pleases them.

Any fan that wants to see a supreme hockey talent in your Blues jersey (LIKE EACH OF THE 4 TEAMS IN THE PLAYOFFS), you better stand up now and make your voices heard. If you don't, it won't happen ever.
Interesting choice of words. Finally admitting you are not a Blues fan, just a troll?
We all rise and fall by what we say to others.

Here is what I have to say in rebut:
Is my request odd? Nope. Go to any other hockey city in the US, and you will find that the majority of fans are VERY HAPPY to get a TOP5 pick. Many will tell you that it is mandatory and STEP 1 to build a hockey team. Think about that.

What is Doug Armstrong telling you? Is that odd?
No other hockey team in the US has a goal of "staying competitive" and winning 5% more next year as a goal. Think about that.

Why do I do this?
I'm not here to make fun of any other fan. I'm here to try to get the team to change their ways so that OUR CITY CAN ENJOY THE SAME HOCKEY BENEFITS AS EVERY OTHER CITY. That's why I'm here. No other reason.
Wake up and smell the freshly cut green grass. NOTHING you post on this board will have any effect on this team, from ownership, management, players to equipment handlers. Your voice is powerless for anything other than stroking your own ego.
Always surprising to me when people show they don't get this. It's pretty simple, really.

Jesus Fing Christ. Another day and yet another thread about the same thing from this raging Asperger’s billboard.

Oh, and Theo admitting he is a previously banned user to boot. Outstanding.

Well he's right. We should follow the model of the team that won the Cup in 2019. Have a really deep team made up of mostly mid to late first round picks, make some really great trades for other teams players, and have a goaltender that raises his game in the playoffs.

Bingo. The Blues did win with their band of merry mids.

Let's discuss further....

1) Across 25 years, that worked only for the Blues (or very few times). The MVP is almost always a TOP5 pick.
2) Let's compare a fan's experience. Enjoy Sidney Crosby for every regular season game for 20 years, and watch him win 2 cups. Enjoy ROR for a couple years, then and see him traded away for peanuts 2 years after the Cup. Donate ROR jersey to Goodwill.

Who cares who the MVP is?

I haven't had a season where I haven't enjoyed Blues hockey, so your second question is just stupid. I don't donate any of my jerseys.

Just a few more facts for fans seeking knowledge...

Those wonderful Dallas Stars won about half their games in the last month, and they finished the regular season by losing 7 straight! Think about that.

Always interesting to see how people manipulate the data to enforce the argument they want to win.

If we look at the Panthers, from 3-11 through the end of the regular season, the last month, as he quoted, they are 7-10-1. However, because he choose that date, he excludes the 8-1 run they went on from Feb 6th through March 8th.

The Oilers went 11-5-1 in the last month of the regular season, and went 7-3 in their last 10.

If we use the same logic for the previous years:

Panthers - 23/24 season. They were 9-7-2 the last month, but in the ramp up to the playoffs, they were 5-0-1 in their last six regular season games.

Oilers - 23-24 season. They were 10-5-3 in the last month of that season.

Vegas - 22-23 season. 13-3-3 in their last month, with a stellar 5-1-1 record their last six games leading to the playoffs.

Florida - 22-23 season. 10-5-2 in their last month, with a finish of 6-1-1 in their last six games.

And let's not forget our 2018/19 season:

Blues - 18-19 season. 11-3-3 in their last month, and an oustanding 8-1-1 record their last ten.

Bruins - 18-19 season. 9-7 in their last month but a better winning percentage in their last 11 games of 7-4.

So, the Blues this year were wrong by trying to win every game, yet for most other Stanley Cup finalists, it's perfectly fine?

Also, the year we won the Cup, you discount our 8-1-1 record in the last ten games of the regular season, but we go 13-3 this season and management is wrong?

I'm certain that some teams will rest guys to help prepare for the playoffs, but if you think it was Florida's intention to go 7-10-1 over the last month of their season just to prepare for the playoffs, you couldn't be more mistaken.

Second argument - League MVP versus Cup:

I will not deny that a lot of very high draft picks have won the Hart Trophy, but that does not immediately suggest that all will win a Cup.

The last 25 seasons in the NHL, with the Hart winner along with his draft position and Cup wins:

1998/99 - Jagr - 5th overall - 2 Stanley Cups.
1999/00 - Pronger - 2nd overall - 1 Stanley Cup.
2000/01 - Sakic - 15th overall - 2 Stanley Cups.
2001/02 - Theodore - 44th overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2002/03 - Forsberg - 6th overall - 2 Stanley Cups.
2003/04 - St. Louis - undrafted - 1 Stanley Cup.
2004/05 - No season.
2005/06 - Thornton - 1st overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2006/07 - Crosby - 1st overall - 3 Stanley Cups.
2007/08 - Ovechkin - 1st overall - 1 Stanley Cup.
2008/09 - Ovechkin - 1st overall - 1 Stanley Cup.
2009/10 - Sedin - 3rd overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2010/11 - Perry - 28th overall - 1 Stanley Cup.
2011/12 - Malkin - 2nd overall - 3 Stanley Cups.
2012/13 - Ovechkin - 1st overall - 1 Stanley Cup.
2013/14 - Crosby - 1st overall - 3 Stanley Cups.
2014/15 - Price - 5th overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2015/16 - Kane - 1st overall - 3 Stanley Cups.
2016/17 - McDavid - 1st overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2017/18 - Hall - 1st overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2018/19 - Kucherov - 58th overall - 2 Stanley Cups.
2019/20 - Draisaitl - 3rd overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2020/21 - McDavid - 1st overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2021/22 - Matthews - 1st overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2022/23 - McDavid - 1st overall - 0 Stanley Cups.
2023/24 - McKinnon - 1st overall - 1 Stanley Cups.

So, of the last 25 Hart Trophy winners, 19 came in the first 5 overall picks of their draft, so you're right about elite talent at the top of the draft. And of those 19 winners you have 14 Stanley Cups.

For the remaining six players from 6th overall and down, you have 5 Cups. A slightly better percentage for winners.

Moving onto the third part of the argument:

Wake up and smell the freshly cut green grass. NOTHING you post on this board will have any effect on this team, from ownership, management, players to equipment handlers. Your voice is powerless for anything other than stroking your own ego.
Always surprising to me when people show they don't get this. It's pretty simple, really.

The reason that you should care who the MVP is....

The MVP is the most important person on the ice for the winning team. :)
If that person is a TOP5, that means that it is very common for the team that wins the Stanley Cup to have a high-impact TOP5 pick on the roster.

Do the Blues have a TOP5 pick on their current roster?

In 2019, they had Pietrangelo. He wasn't the MVP, but he was key.

So how are they going to win the next one without a TOP5?
