Maybe you should change your schtick to "we should only have St Louis born players on the Blues and need to trade for all of them immediately". Tons of dudes like that on the board who would agree with you, would engage with you, and satisfy your desire for attention.
Draisitl will go the HOF wearing an Edmonton Jersey, and the Edmonton will get to see Draisitl in 1000 games. 3 million kids will buy Draisitl jerseys. This what happens when you draft a TOP5 player and the fans will NEVER LET YOU GET RID OF HIM.
Brayden Schenn was a mediocre TOP5 pick from another city. That is the ONLY REASON WHY St Louis was able to get him for our roster. If Captain Schenn had been traded by Armstrong prior to the 2025 playoffs (as Army attempted to do), most fans would have applauded.
Schenn does not equal Draisitl. Schenn was key role player in 2019. Draisitl is an Edmonton legend and HOFer.
Should the Blues trade for Clayton Keller? Maybe Adam Lowry. Think Scott Mayfield is available? Any St Louis born players in the draft this year? What if a St. Louisan is projected in the top 5? How many futures should the Blues give up to acquire that guy?

Let's not lose sight of the fact that only two posters have had the courtesy to engage the OP. STL Fan in MN tried for weeks to have logical convo's with the OP. Within the last week he clearly cried uncle, called the OP a moron and I expect for the most part we won't see him engaging the OP again.stlblues1979 wrote: ↑19 May 2025 09:43 amI can only imagine what he's posted & how hockey dumb it must be. Seattleblue was the other. He has tried, and tried, and tried some more to logically explain all of the faults (so, so, so many faults with everything the OP tries to say). He's been polite, courteous and attempted to explain the OP's errors. And now here we are, the only two sort of advocates for the OP, one has called him a moron and the other mentions that his arguments are missing chromosomes.
OP is now left to talking to himself and name calling by those that don't ignore him. It's all so pathetic but the OP doesn't possess any sort of self awareness to understand. Maybe he will leave the board for a third time. He won't but he should.

The TOP5 picks are on full display in the Final 4 teams in the playoffs, folks. Some will lead you to believe that TOP5 picks only reside on teams like Buffalo. Further, some will lead you to believe that TOP5 picks are only on teams that TANK. All 4 teams remaining in the playoffs have high-impact TOP5 picks. All 4 teams have a significantly higher win percentage than the Blues in the last 5 years.George Zipp wrote: ↑19 May 2025 11:27 amLet's not lose sight of the fact that only two posters have had the courtesy to engage the OP. Likewise, TOP5 ideas are sprinkled across many posters. Some would like you to believe that insights can only be found in some people. Not naming any names, here.

There will certainly be at least 1 TOP5 player in a Cup parade in 2025. Of course, this is should not surprise anyone.Army's Mom wrote: ↑19 May 2025 10:51 amSchenner went to a Cup parade. Draisatl? Take a gander at the playoff MVPs over the years. Hint: Darn if there aren't a lot of TOP5 picks in the list.

Re: Who gets to watch TOP5 NHL draft picks?
No the moral of the story is that you not only have to get a number one pick, but you have to get it in a year with a can't miss, McDavid type, prospect and even that is no guarantee of anything. None of these are things you can automatically make happen, no matter how hard you tank. Getting a guy like McDavid is a combination of a small dose of mediocrity and a large dose of luck. Luck is not a strategy.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑19 May 2025 09:38 amThe only thing worse than watching Eric Johnson play out is to watch fans wait with breathless expectation for players drafted by the same team LOWER IN THE DRAFT.
Moral of the Story....
If you can't find a great player at #1, it is even less likely that you will find great players at #20. Just look at the Blues roster AND COMPARE IT TO OTHER TEAMS, and you will see evidence of that.

However, what else is true?
All 4 teams in the 2025 playoffs have at least 1 TOP5 player on their roster. Almost every year, the MVP of the playoffs is a TOP5 pick.
Selecting a high-impact player in the TOP5 is very doable, folks. Other winning teams are doing it--CONSTANTLY.

Thomas, drafted at #20, is the fourth leading goal scorer from his draft class.

Get real. Offer sheeting Broberg & Holloway, trading for Cam Fowler, hiring Monty the second he became available, waiving Saad, bringing on Suter for insurance didn't all fill large holes, progress the the retool ?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑19 May 2025 12:44 pmGood carton showing Army desperately grabbing at Leddy, Buchnevich and Faulk.
No reasonable person can deny it. Your 'zero trick' is this monotonous moaning about 'top draft picks' - your team has got to suck to get one. Stillman said out of his own mouth a day or so ago that ain't how the Blues are, or can afford, or are willing, or think the most effective way to compete & ultimately contend. Nor are they anything like alone in that evaluation.
You can whine about it till the cows come home - but - It's not gonna happen, so what's the point of droning on about it ?

I realize all of that, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it or accept it. Stillman and Army have said what they think. Now it's my turn. I skate on BluesTalk. Re: Who gets to watch TOP5 NHL draft picks?
Whoo Hoo!! Buffalo has another Too 10 pick to celebrate. Think of all those jerseys they are selling. Another parade to celebrate yet another Top 10 pick. That’s absolutely awesome!!! I wonder who gets to carry the Stanley Cup thru downtown for them this year to salute yet another “win” for the most successful NHL franchise the last 14 years. Will it be O’Reilly? Maybe Eichel? How about Reinhart? If only the Blues could be as successful as the Sabres. Dagnabbita smell of green grass wrote: ↑19 May 2025 09:49 am When people talk about TOP5, they somehow believe that it is the HALLMARK of perennial losing teams, aka Buffalo.
What teams are in the Final 4 this year?
Carolina
Florida
Dallas
Edmonton
The Florida Panthers have won 61.5 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The Dallas Stars have averaged a win percentage of .568 between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The Edmonton Oilers have won 60.2 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The Carolina Hurricanes have won 62.8 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The St. Louis Blues have won 52.1 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
In the last 5 years, the winning percentage of St louis is LOWER than each of the 4 playoff teams.
What the facts reveal: Most teams have a Batman and Robin. St. Louis fans only get to watch Robin--FOREVER--because Army loves winning regular season games in the last 4 weeks (when the season is over).
