Who gets to watch TOP5 NHL draft picks?

Post by a smell of green grass »

Who gets to watch TOP5 NHL draft picks?

Answer:
1) Hockey Fans in the Final 4 2025 playoff cities, and
2) Almost every hockey fan in NHL cities during EVERY REGULAR SEASON GAME.

Who does NOT GET TO SEE NHL high draft picks in their team jersey---EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Answer: St Louis Hockey fans

Evidently, some successful teams are prospering from high NHL draft picks. Their teams aren't moving to Saskatoon as a result either!!!

And NEVER FORGET, their fans get to watch these players SINCE THEY WERE DRAFTED EVERY SINGLE REGULAR SEASON GAME!!!! That's not for you, St. Louis, NOT EVER!!!!!

Here we have the 2025 Frozen Four:
McDavid #1
Draisitl #3
Heiskanen #3
Svechnikov #2
Barkov #2

Islanders, Sharks, Blackhawks, Mammoth, Predators fans next season. I'd rather watch the Blues than anything those fans are enduring. My guess is that the Blues will be a threat to win it all before any of them. But I am amazed at your obsession. You have one lens with which to view hockey roster construction ... one very narrow lens.

Yeah, I want to endure years of losing so that I can watch the next Miro Heiskanen play for my team. Let's stop trying to win games now, and then potentially in eight years, we might have the next Miro Heiskanen wearing a Blues Jersey. Imagine having a defenseman who put up 5 goals and had 20 assists on this team! It would be worth sitting through multiple losing seasons for that sort of thrill.

As someone who had the once in a lifetime chance to watch Eric Johnson AND Nail Yakupoff play let me tell you, a team should do anything for that number one pick.

This argument is missing some chromosomes. Maybe it really is what you actually think and this is the best you can do.

I wonder where some Blues would be picked in their respective drafts now especially when compared to top 10 picks in those years.

The only thing worse than watching Eric Johnson play out is to watch fans wait with breathless expectation for players drafted by the same team LOWER IN THE DRAFT.

Moral of the Story....
If you can't find a great player at #1, it is even less likely that you will find great players at #20. Just look at the Blues roster AND COMPARE IT TO OTHER TEAMS, and you will see evidence of that.

I can only imagine what he's posted & how hockey dumb it must be. Dude really needs to drop the shovel & follow Abraham Lincoln's advice, or at least the hockey version of it.
Better to remain silent & thought a fool than to post on Blues forum & remove all doubt. :D :D

When people talk about TOP5, they somehow believe that it is the HALLMARK of perennial losing teams, aka Buffalo.

What teams are in the Final 4 this year?
Carolina
Florida
Dallas
Edmonton

The Florida Panthers have won 61.5 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The Dallas Stars have averaged a win percentage of .568 between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The Edmonton Oilers have won 60.2 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The Carolina Hurricanes have won 62.8 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.
The St. Louis Blues have won 52.1 percent of the time between May 19, 2020 and May 19, 2025.

In the last 5 years, the winning percentage of St louis is LOWER than each of the 4 playoff teams.

What the facts reveal: Most teams have a Batman and Robin. St. Louis fans only get to watch Robin--FOREVER--because Army loves winning regular season games in the last 4 weeks (when the season is over).

It's amazing to me that a town that is known for national sports heroes like Musial is fine with being shut out of that forever in the NHL. They seem to think that if they just build a team of Robins that the sum of the parts will surpass Batman.

This is all despite the fact that all 4 of the teams in the 2025 Final Four are thriving with their TOP5 picks.

I know this is your schtick and I shouldn't even bother responding, but Brayden Schenn was a top 5 pick, so if the Blues had advanced to the conference finals, this would still be true. But, I'm sure you knew that.

Maybe you should change your schtick to "we should only have St Louis born players on the Blues and need to trade for all of them immediately". Tons of dudes like that on the board who would agree with you, would engage with you, and satisfy your desire for attention.

You mention a baseball player who retired 62 years ago way too often for a discussion about NHL draft picks.

Do you know the difference between Leon Draisitl and Brayden Schenn?

Draisitl will go the HOF wearing an Edmonton Jersey, and the Edmonton will get to see Draisitl in 1000 games. 3 million kids will buy Draisitl jerseys. This what happens when you draft a TOP5 player and the fans will NEVER LET YOU GET RID OF HIM.

Brayden Schenn was a mediocre TOP5 pick from another city. That is the ONLY REASON WHY St Louis was able to get him for our roster. If Captain Schenn had been traded by Armstrong prior to the 2025 playoffs (as Army attempted to do), most fans would have applauded.

Schenn does not equal Draisitl. Schenn was key role player in 2019. Draisitl is an Edmonton legend and HOFer.

"Who gets to watch TOP5 NHL draft picks?", not "who gets to watch future hall of famers" was your question.

Should the Blues trade for Clayton Keller? Maybe Adam Lowry. Think Scott Mayfield is available? Any St Louis born players in the draft this year? What if a St. Louisan is projected in the top 5? How many futures should the Blues give up to acquire that guy?

To anyone that cares to reply to this message about how TOP5 picks fail...

Please also include your assessment of the Blues current draft prospects. I bet that you are also extremely aware of how LOWER PICKS FAIL AT A MUCH HIGHER RATE. Please go ahead and lay that sobering wisdom on the fans.

And while you're at it, can you give us an update on the Blues Rd1 pick last year? How many minor league games did he miss last year due to injuries?
