Berube is gonna want serious personnel changes this off-season. He needs playoff players. Mathews and Marner are the biggest question marks.
Changes/tweaks? Sure. Wholesale changes to a team that took the defending champs to game 7 is probably a big mistake.
the issue is the way they lost games five and seven (at home). Florida had 21 shot attempts before Toronto got one (in a game seven).
I mean game 7 with the champs..... you make adjustments and try again
Dude. No offense, but nobody will agree with you. They got absolutely pummeled on home ice on game 7. That was an absolute embarrassment.
The Panthers were historically pummeled by Vegas in the Final. The most embarrassing pummeling in history
In the end, the Leafs couldn’t match a better, deeper, bigger more experienced team.

Leafs high draft picks (again) failed the last five games when team was up 2-0:
Nylander: 0 points, -3, eighth overall
Matthews: 1 point, -3, first overall
Marner: 1 point, -3, fourth overall
Rielly: 0 points, -3, fifth overall
Tavares: 0 points, -5, first overall (by Islanders)
But I bet they sell a lot of jerseys!
Big market in Toronto for “lightly used” jerseys collected from the ice last night! I’m talking about the ones fans threw on the ice, but “lightly used” would also cover most of the team as well!

Bhahaha So true.
But don't you guys know, those individual player jerseys are so much more important than the ones that say "Stanley Cup Champions!"

Jerseys would be better marketed as warm-ups rather than game worn!
Some of these comments and not understanding sports marketing is hilarious.. I bet Tom Stillman is glad the fans don't act like Toronto andbrun their bestbplayers out of town but you can't tell me he doesn't wish he had that teams jersey sales.. they burn and throw jerseys on the ice after every game only to re buy them... gthoh

Wait, I thought high draft picks guaranteed success? Wow, I've been totally misled!
I am not sure anyone said that high draft picks "guaranteed" success. But a lot of people have (correctly in my opinion) pointed out that high draft picks are almost a necessity to have success. They don't guarantee it. There is a difference.
History has shown this to be an almost universal constant. Very few (if any?) Stanley Cup winners in the cap era have no players that they themselves drafted in the Top 5 or so. A lot of them have a few of them and/or Top 5 players they traded for.

No you simply don't get that the leafs haven't won a Cup since 67 ish and the value of their franchise is still exponentially bigger than yours.
You tell me Stillman doesn't wish the prime Hull years were right now lmao... again gtfoh
But you guys don't want a new hull because we had hull 30 years ago ..
Stl has a big issue with skill players case and point jordan kyrou all still want to run the man out of town after easily the best all around year of his career because he doesn't act like Sam Bennet again gtfoh...
Some don't even want anything significant for him it's insanity.

Just curious, if you could only have one or the other. Do you want another Brett Hull without a cup or a team that wins the cup?

I think I know which one Stillman cherishes.
You guys love holding on to the rag tag bunch of under dogs narrative.
Why would stillman love a prime Hull? He scored over 700 goals and would easily be the most charismatic superstarbin the sport today. Good for 2 or 3 sound clips a night on top if highlight goals is a marketers dream in the social media era you can post every clip on every platform and make an alternative money stream for your franchise that simply didn't exist in the 90s..
There is a reason Stillman is looking at streaming platforms as an alternative revenue source. They are also stepping up the production game with blue note productions..

and yet it wasn't until Hull worked on his defense and sacrificed his goal scoring that led him to raising the cup

Winning is great and what everybody strives to do unfournately only one team does that a year why you guys don't want to make extra money along the way to use on the team astounds me honestly...
