Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
I was an attorney, so one word answers are simply impossible! lol
Look, Rose probably should be in, but I have two problems with him.
1. He lied to fans for years about his gambling. I hate that.
2. Rose thought he was soooo big that the rules simply would not apply to him. He was wrong.
In. With reservations.

Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
1. That's what he said. Believe him at your own risk.
2. Would a big bet force him to use his bullpen differently? Would he bring in his closer with a 4 run lead if he needs to win by 3 in order to win the bet.
3. Was the rule ever, no betting on baseball UNLESS you bet on your team to win?
Your argument is tired and immensely flawed.

Exactly!scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:57 amGoing out of his way chasing a win also is detrimental. Burning up your bully because you bet to win has repurcussions

As a player he's a slam dunk, 1st ballot Hall of Famer and that's what he's going in for not his managing which s u c k e d.
Once the Hall started letting STEROID freaks in, there was no reason to exclude Rose the Player anymore.

The best kind of hit is a home run.
It’s comical that neither the guy who has the most hits nor the guy who has the most “best kind of hits” are not in the Hall of Fame.
Put Pete in, explain the gambling on his plaque.
Overall 34-15

:Out - alleged sex with child under 16 years old
Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
Just pretend we're in Saudi Arabia, among other places, where that's A-OK.

Should we be equally skeptical that MLB didn't release all the information on Rose?Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑15 May 2025 15:27 pmI don't know about "proven"....but...I'm incredibly skeptical of Pudge, Bagwell, and yes...Nolan Ryan.Bomber1 wrote: ↑14 May 2025 11:41 amWhich proven steroid freaks other than Fat Papi are in?Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑14 May 2025 10:47 amAgreed. They had enough to convict, why release more convict twice.
I don't see the two offenses the same at all. Which 2B with 10 HR's were
using so they could hit 15? Same 2B bets on games and now what you got? Each to their own.

Would that mean they make new plaques for Piazza, Bagwell, Biggio, Thome, Henderson etc?VegasVinny wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:10 am In.
I actually think there's a lot of merit to Derrick Goold's suggestion. Induct all of the questionable characters who performed at a HOF level and list their (baseball) transgressions on their plaque, whether it be gambling, performance-enhancing drug use, etc. The players get to say they're Hall of Famers and fans can get the whole picture to interpret and evaluate how they see fit.
Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
As a baseball player - yes.
Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
Good question .. they didn't have Uber cars back then . Just a wild guess but he probably told her that taking a taxi would be a lot to reimburse her so he probably said take the city bus to the hotel . Only 25 cents or whatever back then.

Here's what teammate Tony Perez said:
I always say what he did on the field is why he should be in the Hall of Fame. But this is great news. I'm happy that they are giving him the opportunity. They can vote for him and see if he can get in the Hall of Fame, because he should be in there.
He paid the price for a long, long, long time and I know he was hurt. He maybe didn't look like it, but I know he was hurt. Because he loved the game so much and he wanted to be with the fans and he wanted to be at the ballpark. But he made a mistake and he paid for that.
He can always play with me. When I meet him again, I would love to play with him.
