These guys are free to retire any time. It isn't on me as a fan to feel guilty because I enjoy intense hockey and they are getting hurt.
I get what you are saying and mostly don't disagree. I still think they need to get the head shots out of the game. No idea how the accomplish.

My problem is the league has been really vocal about trying to curb the end of the game nonsense, and that's exactly what this was. Not sure if you noticed but there were still a couple of seconds left on the clock when the whistle blew on the play. The timekeeper let the clock expire and clearly the refs decided the Leafs were not going to score twice in two seconds so they sent everyone home. I also noticed before they made that decision FL had already sent Tkachuk out for that last shift. Imagine that chaos.

The game yesterday was full of sketchy play. The series has been full of sketchy play. The Eckman-Larson hit to Rodriquez was a blindside to the head and somehow he got away with just a minor. Mikola opened the bench door just as a Leafs player was getting checked in that spot, also really dirty. There were a couple of other head shots and then hit on Barkov at the end.
Yea for sure. It was a clear attempt to take Barkov out after the game was completely over. And there has been plenty in this series and playoffs in general. And for sure the league only has itself to blame. It has tried to excuse reckless plays that have a high chance of injury going as far back as Kadri/Binnington as far as recent times. They seem to take into account whether injury actually occurs, which is stupid. And then they also take into account whether it is a star or JAG being injured and finally whether the offender is a star or JAG.

Overall, it just detracts from the game if they are not going to be objective.

The Blues/Jets series was probably the hardest hitting series in recent memory but it was just hard nose physical hockey. Credit to both teams.
Agree with your last point 100%! And yet Jets fans whined and cried like (female canine animals, especially dogs) the whole series because the Blues were "dirty". That's Canadians I guess, it's OK when their guys play physical, but not not OK for another team.
