I have heard more praise for the coaching additions this year from players than previous teams . While Willie M. was likeable and good coach, the players seem to rave about JonJay’s work with the OF crew.
Likewise with Brant Brown as hitting coach.
Jay looks to be an excellent coach, which I thought he would be. I wouldn't exclude him from a possible managerial role.
Gotta be impressed with the hitting. I also think Brown is doing good work.
The starting rotation is currently bonkers good during this streak. McGreevy showed them how I guess, lol.
Hope they can maintain the goodness, but you know some regression is coming.
Ebbs and flows but WOW!

I'll give credit to Brown as it seems some have improved their hitting so far. I'll credit Dusty Blake as the pitching has been pretty good. I'll credit whoever has helped Walker's defense. And I'll credit the coaches involved with Scott's overall improvement.
I will not credit Mo. He did absolutely nothing to help this team over the winter. He sat on his (donkey) and did his usual hibernation. And I will not credit oli. He's still the same old pud.
They literally said they weren’t doing anything
No, they said it was a reset. And that he would look to move veterans. He didn't do it. Now despite Mo's incompetence, they have a winning record.
The 3 veterans that didn’t want to be moved are all contributing. The other two had no value and are also contributing. Oli is doing a very good job this year.
Is credit due? Begrudgingly, yes. Ouch, that hurts.
Also, really liked Jon Jay as a player. Was always terrific defensively, hit for average, and would do the little things. Will be a great coach and manager, too.

The starting pitching is the most surprising thing for me.
The starting pitching has been much better than I thought it would be. The bullpen has been good after their early season troubles, but I thought they bullpen would be good before the season. The offense is I think what people expected it to be the last two years, albeit maybe coming from different players.
I dont think we have a ton of depth, so if we lose someone from our rotation, bullpen or lineup, we could be in big trouble, but I think that we could stay in contention for the NL Central if everything goes right.
Of course the local writers still seem to be reporting that the team is planning on trading if and when they get the chance. I do think that this is the right thing to do, especially when we have a team that has a lot of bright spots. But if Mikolas, Matz, Fedde, Helsley, and even Arenado are playing well and can get you something of value for the future, I think you gotta do that deal.
All are gone after this year, aside from Arenado, and as much as it would pain me to trade a player who I loved for years and was so excited when we traded for him, it's probably the right thing to do. He's having a bounce back year so far. Not like his prime, but still pretty good and still playing elite defense.
Anyway, kind of off topic, but that is what I think about when I think about this team.

That's why my original post said they were winning in spite of Mo's incompetence. If you're dumb enough to announce a reset, then you lose any leverage you might have had. Either he is too stupid to understand that, or he purposely did it knowing it would make a trade impossible. Either way, he did not carry out the organization's plan.

I think the coaches have done a great job from what we are seeing/hearing. I don't love Marmol, but to be fair they are exceeding expectations at this point. At this point being the key phrase. If i am going to rip Marmol when they aren't doing well, i accept i have to give him credit when they are performing well.

have a good day
You mean it's possible not to do a rebuild after a couple of down years and perhaps get a division title?

Juan: you are not credible.
Right or wrong, I add opinions. Sometimes I poke a bear or just try to have fun. You on the other hand, just reply with (bleep) like telling someone they aren't a fan or are not credible. You have no substance to any post. It's just ridiculous one line gibberish.

Oli and his staff have the Cardinals in a good place. They stlll need to decide what to do about the under performing, Walker and Gorman, offensively. Is Saggese a better option? I see Burleson this, Burleson that. I guarantee, Burleson is secure as long as Oli is managing. And his managing production ain't too bad at the present time.
I'll give them 3x the credit if they can turn Walker and Gorman into MLB Allstars.
