Gotta give credit where credit is due
Oli and his staff have the Cardinals in a good place. They stlll need to decide what to do about the under performing, Walker and Gorman, offensively. Is Saggese a better option? I see Burleson this, Burleson that. I guarantee, Burleson is secure as long as Oli is managing. And his managing production ain't too bad at the present time.

I've had issues for my posting style. But I know there are briiliant posters that know this is an issue.
Re: Gotta give credit where credit is due
I have heard more praise for the coaching additions this year from players than previous teams . While Willie M. was likeable and good coach, the players seem to rave about JonJay’s work with the OF crew.
Likewise with Brant Brown as hitting coach.

Any Shady post = 6 degrees of separation to Burleson.
Just started posting but have been lurking this forum for years and have to say it’s the weirdest thing. Except maybe that guy that used to facetiously overpraise “Mr. Mo” and “Mr. DeWitt” every single day for like a year straight. What ever happened to that guy? He was great. Is it Shady? Is Shady really Burleson? That would be pretty funny too. And kind of sad.

You are freaky. But whatever floats your boat, If you are so smart, why not just comment on the OP? So far, you offer nothing substantial in your brief CT posting career.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑11 May 2025 19:08 pm Any Shady post = 6 degrees of separation to Burleson.

I did! OP was yada yada…I dig Burly. It’s cool man, the heart wants what it wants. Some people loved Aaron Miles too. I have to say, I feel like legitimized now after feeling the Shady wrath lol! All in good fun.Shady wrote: ↑11 May 2025 20:14 pmYou are freaky. But whatever floats your boat, If you are so smart, why not just comment on the OP? The Cardinals are going to play the games whether the fans show up or not. The best thing that they can do is move forward. If they continue to win, then that puts the ball in the fan's court to make a decision. Winning solves everything in baseball.

As far as Burly, since you did bring him up as part of your OP: .704 OPS in 1021 ABs. Not good for a 1-tool 1B/DH who struggles to hit LHP. Decent BA this year, but still pretty empty as far as production numbers. Would be horrid if not for his micro-surge this past week. And yes, I know, Oli is behind him. He loves him the way LaRussa loved Miles. It’s fine, just odd. Maybe he’s just a funny and awesome dude. It sure isn’t his production or defense.
Now… defend him. No need for veiled topics, let’s talk about Burly!

Re: Gotta give credit where credit is due
I'll give credit to Brown as it seems some have improved their hitting so far. I'll credit Dusty Blake as the pitching has been pretty good. I'll credit whoever has helped Walker's defense. And I'll credit the coaches involved with Scott's overall improvement.
I will not credit Mo. He did absolutely nothing to help this team over the winter. He sat on his (donkey) and did his usual hibernation. And I will not credit oli. He's still the same old pud.

No, they said it was a reset. And that he would look to move veterans. He didn't do it. Now despite Mo's incompetence, they have a winning record.hullie wrote: ↑11 May 2025 23:02 pmThey literally said they weren’t doing anythingJuanAgosto wrote: ↑11 May 2025 22:40 pm I'll give credit to Brown as it seems some have improved their hitting so far. Re: Gotta give credit where credit is due
The starting pitching is the most surprising thing for me.
The starting pitching has been much better than I thought it would be. The bullpen has been good after their early season troubles, but I thought they bullpen would be good before the season. The offense is I think what people expected it to be the last two years, albeit maybe coming from different players.
I dont think we have a ton of depth, so if we lose someone from our rotation, bullpen or lineup, we could be in big trouble, but I think that we could stay in contention for the NL Central if everything goes right.
Of course the local writers still seem to be reporting that the team is planning on trading if and when they get the chance. I do think that this is the right thing to do, especially when we have a team that has a lot of bright spots. But if Mikolas, Matz, Fedde, Helsley, and even Arenado are playing well and can get you something of value for the future, I think you gotta do that deal.
All are gone after this year, aside from Arenado, and as much as it would pain me to trade a player who I loved for years and was so excited when we traded for him, it's probably the right thing to do. He's having a bounce back year so far. Not like his prime, but still pretty good and still playing elite defense.
Anyway, kind of off topic, but that is what I think about when I think about this team.
