Looks to be a regular season player. Playoff hockey is totally different.
Needs to gain 15 pounds of muscle and show some aggressiveness throughout season so players respect him.
Tell me I am wrong…if he plays a 200ft game in just one of the Winnipeg loses, Blues could have won this series?
LGB’s 2025-2026!!
If he isn't disciplined enough to commit to the game plan for Game 7, Will he be disciiplined enough to spend the entire summer training?
Sure it's muscle and bulk.. but it is also attitude. I see in in Neighbors, Thomas, Bolduc. I just don't see it in Kyrou.
We need a few more Western League kids. They stir the drink.
Which plan didn’t he commit to? Score? Shoot? Cause he did both of those
It was the plan to play with heart and desire that he forgot and left at home.
Another poster, sorry- I don't remember who- must have played the game at some kind of competitive level asked "would you want him on your line?" I have asked that question a dozen times the past 18 months. I even got fooled when he showed improvement when he had ZHolloway as a crutch.
If you google "cowardly lollygagging in the playoffs" he would be example numero uno.
He played like a little kid in a grown-up beer league. And the grown-ups cared deeply about the outcome.
How do you know he didn’t? Does that look the exact same for every player? You’re making assumptions.
When you flinch and shy away from contact. When you don't hustle to negate a critical icing. When you are not good at ANYTHING except shooting the puck... you have no desire to improve your playoff game, nor do you have the heart to give your all in a Game six or a Game seven.
Nobody looked as weak and gunshy as Kyrou.
Nobody.
You’re not convincing me nor I you. Let’s call it a day, at the end of said day we both want what’s best for the team, just don’t agree on what that is.
Fair enough. You are a good and passionate Blues Fan.
After the Presser this morning, I am resigned to Kyrou coming back. Who knows, he did make big strides for most of this year, only going backwards (in my eyes) after the loss of his inspiration. Holloway improved Kyrou's work ethic and Kyrou was man enough to admit it. Maybe a full season playing alongside a warrior will continue his improvement in the areas that truly concern me.
Then again, Armstrong is frightening sometimes.
But probably not on this.
I’ve had the opportunity to watch Jordan Kyrou play since his early days in Sarnia, and one thing that’s always stood out is his speed. Coming out of the highly competitive midget leagues in Toronto, that fast-paced style has been a hallmark of his game from the beginning. It’s taken a few NHL coaches to help develop him into the player we’ve seen this season, and I do think Monty has made noticeable progress with him.
That said, the Blues are still capable of making the playoffs without Kyrou—he’s just one piece of the puzzle. Players like Holloway are stepping up in a big way; he could very well become a 30-goal scorer or even our first 40-goal scorer since Tarasenko.
In my opinion, Kyrou might benefit from a change of scenery and a fresh start with a new team. I still remember that moment between him and Coach Berube that played out on TV—it was tough to watch. Personally, I think it would’ve been better if Kyrou had just walked into the locker room quietly instead of responding. But that’s just my perspective

If Armstrong feels it's best to deal Kyrou and gets a good return for him, fine.
If he stays and Montgomery works his magic on him, fine.
I'm certain Armstrong will be looking to improve the team however he can.
I will say that losing Holloway really hurt Kyrou - he gave him a fast running partner that caused havoc for matchups for the Blues - who do you defend? The Thomas/Buch/?? line or the Holloway/Schenn/Kyrou line?
Kyrou needs that type of linemate - working with a pure passer like Thomas allows him to sit back as the F3 and rarely does anything but look for passes. When he played with Holloway, he became a harder working winger and was more intent on retrieving the puck on a consistent basis.

Hes not gaining 15lbs of muscle, Hes never going to do that. 5 lbs--maybe. He is a plus player. Had a good turn around season. Watching him in the playoffs--he may be good trade bait---but every team needs a KYROU or an EHLERS. Need scoring. I like him. He had some timely goals in the playoffs. I think hes an important piece.

I’m not concerned about losing his production because I’m not trading him for no production in return. I’d probably add a prospect and or a pick to get a player back with similar production that’s a 200 ft player that won’t disappear in the playoffs.
Exactly
They may also be able to trade his salary to create space for a free agent of the same making.
Multiple ways of turning the Kyrou asset into another scorer and one without as many deficiencies as a 200-ft player.
It doesn't even have to be an $8 million dollar player, although they are harder to acquire. But is there anyone that would rather have Kyrou than Holloway? I'll take 8 Holloways on the wing.
I just don't think there are that many guys who are as good as he is. Many who are also play a pretty finesse game. The ones who play with skill and sandpaper are rare, and most teams are not that interested in letting them go. I am not remotely interesting in trading Kryrou (much less Kyrou and picks) for a 18 goal guy with grit or something.
Also worth remembering that as much as Holloway made Kyrou better, Kyrou made Holloway better as well. I think some people don't like him because he kind of has a shy personality. Kind of reminds me of J.D. Drew who was also an excellent player (higher career WAR than Matt Holliday) despite all the vitriol he received.

That's what everyone else who wants him gone is thinking. It's just a matter of if he'll bring back what everyone wants in a trade. What you're willing to do probably gets it done. Just depends on the pick and prospect.
Depends on the age of player the Blue’s want back. If they want a younger not as proven player they could probably land a Bolduc or Snuggerud type player just for Kyrou. For an established player for just Kyrou I would think you’re getting a 20-25 goal 30-35 assist type player that’s a 200 foot player.
My first choice would be that Kyrou keeps putting the work in to improve that side of his game. Internally I’m sure the team must know how realistic that is.

Yep this is pretty much where I am at. How do the upper 3 Blues managers view making this team better.
Forget the fan biases pro and con for the guy and let the 2-3 Saint Louis great minds of hockey work it out.
If JK is not moved this summer and his no trade clause kicks in....I can easily assume Monty and DA and Steen were on board.
If they go the other way...same... that's their call.....I'll be upset for this team but so be it.
I think before the playoffs it was probably less likely Kyrou gets traded.
I think him having the next 5 years with a NTC will make management explore what the market is for Kyrou.
The teams with the most interest might be teams that aren’t that attractive to players to come play. Having him locked up for 6 more years provides some stability for the team. Another factor to consider would be the chemistry between Kyrou and Holloway.

Jeez. This place always needs a scapegoat.
We got beat by a better team. I don't understand why that isn't obvious.
Did we? I think with some changes we did not. I don't think the better team went on, of course we shall see, but I see Dallas steam roll them. I'd even bet Dallas was watching the series final hoping that the Jets win it.

Excellent points, all.
And none of them involve scapegoating. Hell, the Blues could have won- anyone could see it was a tossup.
The issue is, Kyrou with a five year NTC after a lack of compete that was so obvious, he was called out on the network broadcast.
Pretty simple and very rational.
