Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
Looks to be a regular season player. Playoff hockey is totally different.
Needs to gain 15 pounds of muscle and show some aggressiveness throughout season so players respect him.
Tell me I am wrong…if he plays a 200ft game in just one of the Winnipeg loses, Blues could have won this series?

Re: Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
Points aside Kyrou should be causing havoc in the O-zone every time he has the puck using his speed and skill. No idea if he was hurt or not but it has been his tendency in the past to shy away during physical games.

Re: Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
You are both 100% correct.
What is infuriating is that he has made big strides, but seems to have very little mental strength and not much real desire to do whatever it takes for crunch time.
We SURELY could have used an 8 million dollar man in this series.
He let the team down. Very down.

If he isn't disciplined enough to commit to the game plan for Game 7, Will he be disciiplined enough to spend the entire summer training?bluecard04 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 10:12 am Looks to be a regular season player. Playoff hockey is totally different.

Sure it's muscle and bulk.. but it is also attitude. I see in in Neighbors, Thomas, Bolduc. I just don't see it in Kyrou.
We need a few more Western League kids. They stir the drink.

Re: Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
I think Kyrou had a strong offseason last summer and that probably helped him improve his defensive play. He probably needs a couple more off seasons like that. Gain 10lbs or so. Maybe this series loss motivates him. What concerns me is usually people either have that mindset or they don’t. For those that do before they get stronger they battle and lose. The battle is still there though. Kyrou almost avoids it. But just depends how much he wants to improve those areas of his game. Watching his interview today he even looks timid answering questions.

Which plan didn’t he commit to? Score? Shoot? Another poster, sorry- I don't remember who- must have played the game at some kind of competitive level asked "would you want him on your line?" I have asked that question a dozen times the past 18 months. I even got fooled when he showed improvement when he had ZHolloway as a crutch.
If you google "cowardly lollygagging in the playoffs" he would be example numero uno.
He played like a little kid in a grown-up beer league. And the grown-ups cared deeply about the outcome.

How do you know he didn’t? Does that look the exact same for every player? You’re making assumptions.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 12:38 pmIt was the plan to play with heart and desire that he forgot and left at home.netboy65 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 12:22 pmWhich plan didn’t he commit to? When you flinch and shy away from contact. When you don't hustle to negate a critical icing. When you are not good at ANYTHING except shooting the puck... you have no desire to improve your playoff game, nor do you have the heart to give your all in a Game six or a Game seven.netboy65 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 12:43 pmHow do you know he didn’t? You’re not convincing me nor I you. Let’s call it a day, at the end of said day we both want what’s best for the team, just don’t agree on what that is.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 12:47 pmWhen you flinch and shy away from contact. There's an old saying about dogs and football players. Maybe it applies to hockey players.Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 12:19 pm I think Kyrou had a strong offseason last summer and that probably helped him improve his defensive play. Re: Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
I'm curious if all the people who think the Kyrou is not a "playoff player" are concerned that without his 30 goals and 70 points, we won't reach the playoffs in the first place? This is not longer a 21 team league with 16 playoff spots. You actually have to be good to even get there now.

Re: Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
The deal is nobody wants to see their star players disappear in the playoffs. It's natural to think that production can be found through other players that will show up in the playoffs and the regular.Bob39 wrote: ↑06 May 2025 13:00 pm I'm curious if all the people who think the Kyrou is not a "playoff player" are concerned that without his 30 goals and 70 points, we won't reach the playoffs in the first place? Re: Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
I’m not concerned about losing his production because I’m not trading him for no production in return. I’d probably add a prospect and or a pick to get a player back with similar production that’s a 200 ft player that won’t disappear in the playoffs.
Re: Last Kyrou comment (for this season)
I am going to start by saying I found myself yelling at Kyrou and his lack of heavy play especially along the boards. I also had to reset my own expectation on what we get with Kyrou. I feel too many are concerned Kyrou doesn't throw the body around, or create havoc, or hit everything that moves. That isn't and has never been the tool set of Jordan Kyrou. Kyrou brings speed and finesse. He got a bit more physical this year, but he isn't going to play like a truck. What really hurt this team was the loss of Dylan Holloway. Holloway is the player to throw the body around, or create havoc, and hit everything that moves. What was missing was Holloway.

They may also be able to trade his salary to create space for a free agent of the same making.
Multiple ways of turning the Kyrou asset into another scorer and one without as many deficiencies as a 200-ft player.
It doesn't even have to be an $8 million dollar player, although they are harder to acquire. But is there anyone that would rather have Kyrou than Holloway? I'll take 8 Holloways on the wing.
