mcgreevy has sneaky good stuff
he throws mid 90s..nothing special but he has excellent control...several pitches and good movement...it isnt a fluke that he is getting major leaguers out

They cannot send this kid down again. He deserves to be in St. Louis.

I hope they keep both him and Graceffo up, they both looked good in their limited exposure and were at least at one time the best pitching prospects in the minors.EastCoastDave wrote: ↑04 May 2025 19:46 pm They cannot send this kid down again. He deserves to be in St. Louis.

Re: mcgreevy has sneaky good stuff
Yeah, he has looked better than the starter he replaced today. And the starter in the first game. And the starter Friday night. In both opportunities he was given last season he looked like he belonged. In spring training he looked like he belonged. Tonight he looks like he belongs. I need to be patient, I guess. He WILL be in the rotation by the end of the season, either by injury, poor performance, or a trade at the deadline. Also, Graceffo hasn't necessarily earned a spot in the rotation, but he has earned another look soon.

There ya go. 5.2 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, no runs. 80 pitches.
Re: mcgreevy has sneaky good stuff
the guy has done nothing but get major league hitters out...he came up late last season and was great...pitched great in the spring and here he is again at it...he may flop going forward but he shouldnt have to prove he belongs
Re: mcgreevy has sneaky good stuff
All this kid has done at the major league level is throw shutout innings and win games……
And the (bleep) morons running this org thought they had FIVE better SP coming out of ST????
The mandate is to win games and the 2nd self proclaimed mandate was to play youth…..so explain why he hasn’t been starting???

If I may be so bold as to discuss politics on this forum- it's payroll politics.Goldfan wrote: ↑04 May 2025 20:07 pm All this kid has done at the major league level is throw shutout innings and win games……

If he's not going to start, though, you don't want him wasted in the bullpen.EastCoastDave wrote: ↑04 May 2025 19:46 pm They cannot send this kid down again. He deserves to be in St. Louis.
I think that until they are officially out of it and decide to sell, or someone gets hurt, they send him down.

They will, and I don't like it, but it's better than being put in the bullpen. Build up the innings, so there is not excuse not to be in the rotation next season.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑04 May 2025 20:12 pmIf he's not going to start, though, you don't want him wasted in the bullpen.EastCoastDave wrote: ↑04 May 2025 19:46 pm They cannot send this kid down again. Re: mcgreevy has sneaky good stuff
Exactly right.
The movement was outstanding - and made his 4 seamer effective.
Mets simply could not time his pitches.
He will be in the rotation sometime in July - maybe earlier if there is an injury.

Fastball Movement allows him to miss barrels

With this bullpen could he maybe be a setup man?
