Nothing like it. Everybody likes dirty laundry. Kick em when they’re up, kick em when they’re down.

You’d know. You seem to be very unhappy. You seem very happy to dwell in your abandon.

Bulldog I'm sure that most posters come here to talk and (buzz) about Cards baseball...and there are others who, I'm guessing, have limited social interaction and CT is a chance for them to receive some attention...and they are harmless and sad.

Oh okay got you. I define it as someone who never really contributed just different opinions on what a bust isTalkin' Baseball wrote: ↑04 May 2025 15:31 pmI'm defining a "bust" as someone with a huge gap between what seemed reasonably within the players grasp to accomplish, and what the reality was. By that definition I call Carlos a bust. Huge disappointment. Sad what might have been.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑04 May 2025 15:09 pmI wouldn’t call Carlos a bust. In his three healthy years as a starter he won 42 games was a two time allstar and struck out 217 batters one of them. Cardinals badly mishandled him though and injuries eventually ate him upTalkin' Baseball wrote: ↑04 May 2025 15:01 pmHonorable mention to Carlos Martinez. He is younger than Steven Matz and out of baseball.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑04 May 2025 14:58 pm Alex Reyes, and only because of health. He was filthy. Had the stuff to be the best pitcher in baseball. Looked dominant at an early age, like Jose Fernandez, or Paul Skenes. The gap between what he could have been and how things ended up is huge.

Why is it weird? He was a baseball encyclopedia.
Someone I wanted to get to know.
CT is made up of real people, Basil. Not just robots punching a keyboard. OldRed approached me at Spring Training once, and I’m glad he did. It was a pleasure meeting him in person.

Re: Biggest Bust In Cards History
If I remember right, Ramsey was already a reach pick when we took him. One of those "probably a round 3 guy but we needed to save some dough to drop on someone else in the draft."icon wrote: ↑03 May 2025 15:13 pmTyler Greene, Pete Kozma, Brett Wallace, Zack Cox, Delvin Perez, James RamseyBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑03 May 2025 14:30 pm If JWalk can’t figure this stuff out, where would he rank on the biggest bust list?
Lindemann, Aybar, Ankiel(P), Geronimo Pena, Rasmus, Carlson, To name a few that come to mind.
I don’t recall many being more hyped than Walker. Taveras maybe, but that’s a different story.
Heck, same thread could be made about Gorman
Now that I've looked it up, we had an absurd amount of first rounders that year. Wacha, Ramsey, Wisdom, Steve Bean, Piscotty...and Carson Kelly in the second round.
I'll go with Alex Reyes. That guy was going to be a stud, but he couldn't stay healthy. Brett Wallace had all of the "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" hallmarks. Good thing we got him to Oakland for Holliday before anyone else figured that out. Delvin Perez was also a big one. And the immortal Blake Hawksworth.
Also, for funsies, here's something I found from 2003: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories ... ects-chat/
Ahhhh...the Jimmy Journell years.
