I really don't get the hate for Burleson. He led the team in pretty much every major category last season.
He's hitting better than Gorman, Baker, and Walker
He doesn't strikeout and takes his fair share of walks. He's not completely inept at defense

He never walks. He had 35 last year, in 595 plate appearances. Noot has 26 this yearvegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 00:26 am I really don't get the hate for Burleson. He led the team in pretty much every major category last season.

He led the team in RBI. What other major category did he lead them in? It was his “breakout” year…and he was still barely passable as a bat only player. And 62% of his RBI and 59% of his HRs came over 2 months (June/July).vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 00:26 am I really don't get the hate for Burleson. Or maybe that HR gets him going. Sometimes it just takes one. Here's hoping. That would be huge.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑04 May 2025 17:51 pmThen that home run will buy him another month or two.sp25 wrote: ↑04 May 2025 16:54 pmWell, sure, he had a single in have game one, that will buy at least a couple of more weekscardsfaninla wrote: ↑04 May 2025 16:29 pm Based on the game2 lineup......

We aren't going anywhere. Him Walker and Gorman have the season to work it out.

1. He did NOT lead the team in every stat last season. Just RBI. Not BA, runs, doubles, HR, RBI, WAR. His oWAR OF 1.6 was 6th on the team last year.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 00:26 am I really don't get the hate for Burleson. He led the team in pretty much every major category last season.

2. He has one tool. He can hit. That's it. If he can't do that he's useless. His ops this season is .621 and his SLG is .316. Pathetic.
3. He does not take his fair share of walks.
4. He now has only 4 XBHS & 8 RBI this entire season despite hitting .5th most of the year.
5.

BETTER QUESTION IS-HOW LONG ARE THEY GOING TO STICK WITH GORMAN. HE IS TOTALLY LOST OFFENSIVELY AND HIS DEFENSE ISN'T TOO HOT EITHER!
Re: How much longer are they going to stick with Burleson?
Or how much longer do you use Pages as the primary starter at catcher?Vinegar Ben wrote: ↑05 May 2025 05:47 am BETTER QUESTION IS-HOW LONG ARE THEY GOING TO STICK WITH GORMAN. HE IS TOTALLY LOST OFFENSIVELY AND HIS DEFENSE ISN'T TOO HOT EITHER!
Last 19 games: .183/.203/.269/.472
I’d love to DH Herrera when he gets back from his injury, but that still leaves a complete black hole in a Pages there.
Re: How much longer are they going to stick with Burleson?
Are you his parents? These are some wild claims. Hendid not lead team in anything but rbis. He was 5th in ops behind contreras donovan herrera and nootbaar, andnonly 5 points above winn.vegascardsfan5890 wrote: ↑05 May 2025 00:26 am I really don't get the hate for Burleson. He only.has a bat. Thats hisntool. If he him and winn have similar ops, then thats a problem. Winn provides defense. Burleson is a 1b/dh mostly or really bad outfielder.
Secondly- he has always had a well below average league walk rate in majors and minors. Hos walks are up a tik this season at 6.3 % but the mlb aberage is still like 8%
Thats kinda the whole deal on why he doesnt hit well. Cuz he goes ahead and swings at everything regardless ifnits in the zone- do you eve watch the games? Or did you just watch yesterday cuz he happened to get a walk yesterday?
Re: How much longer are they going to stick with Burleson?
So Burly gets his bWAR up to -0.2. Yay.
Hopefully Herrera gets called up and can get the lions share of the DH opportunities, while Catching enough to see how he trends there.
Both Pages and Pozo did a good job of framing yesterday, as the Cards P's got many borderline calls in key situations. Without those calls, the Cards lose both games I'd speculate.
With Pozo scoring from 1B on the VS2 double, he should be the one earning more time up here when Herrera returns.
The NLC has the Cubs, Reds and Pirates who often run wild on the bases. The Cards need a C in those games that can keep that somewhat in check, and that guy isn't currently Herrera.

Long enough to trade him to the Red Sox?

Once I. Hererra is activated Bumbles time at DH should diminish dramatically.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's a throw in if they make a big deal w/Helsley, Fedde, NADO or Matz (Mikolas if he'd waive).
Could the BoSox have some interest after losing their 1st BMan?
