The Cardinal organization is running neck and neck with a poor Pirate franchise and markedly behind the Cubs, Brewers and Reds and that should never happen given the team's rich history and resources.
That should say all that needs to be said about the state of the team and where its headed.
Great detail. 11WS. Thanks for the deep insight.
Anytime.
Some of us actually know what they're talking about and have for years.
Sorry you missed it.
Really, 11WS? CT was elated when they got Ozuna.
CT was elated when they got Goldy. CT was elated when they got Arenado. CT was elated when they got Gray. How soon some forget.
Pieces but they never completed the deal. Harper was the player they should have signed. A generational talent in his prime. Money wasted on Fowler, Leake, and goodness knows who else that could have been used.
Pitching was always on the outside looking in.
They've been piecemealing a rotation together for years taking for granted a marginal NL Central.
That's right, 11WS. Alway temper the positive with the negative. Got it.
What positives?
The sum total of playoff series wins since Ozuna came here and including Goldschmidt’s, Arenado’s and Gray’s runs here is 1.
And that was 6 years ago.
Any Cardinal fan will be glad when the Cardinals acquire a good player from time to time.
Unfortunately for the fans, the clown in charge, while piecemealing decent players into the roster, never figured out how to actually build a good team.
Stop defending the front office.
To tell you the truth, bomber, I don't care a rat's fanny about the front office. I care about the players and how well some of the young, developing guys are doing. Not just at the MLB level, but also up and down the system.
1-9 in our last 10 playoff games.
One postseason series win since 2014.
This franchise has been IRRELEVANT for 10 years, and it’s getting worse.

Terrible, Hazlewood. How have you stood it?
It IS terrible. Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean those who do care are wrong.

Cranny doesn’t care about the present or the future All that matters to him is past and the cardinals used to be good
Cranny should go watch his Grandkids, niece, nephews little league games. He can revel in the improvement, growth, development, just here to watch all the kids play, when the team loses it’s no one’s fault and hopefully all had fun and we’re going to Dairy Queen for icecream.
This is exactly the mindset he views the St. Louis Cardinals Pro MLB baseball team. There’s really no reason to debate back or forth with him because we’re writing about completely different things. Enjoy Cranny.

The old man is weak, his strength comes from him. A smile full of youth, and a gleam in his eye.
His garden is green, it seems over flowing. But his dreams await, in his rocking chair sky.
An analogy:
For many years, owners of an apartment complex failed to spend money on needed repairs, like HVAC, plumbing, foundation. Not exciting investments, but what was needed to keep the units livable. Eventually, the buildings fell into disrepair. The owners and management were mystified as to how this could have happened. Suddenly, they decided that they needed to invest in the infrastructure, so the tenants wouldn't leave, en masse. To pay for these repairs, the owners and management raised the rents, across-the-board. When the tenants complained, they were told that the building was of historic significance, and they should remember the good times that they experienced there. When vacancies naturally occurred, the owners and management threatened more cost-cutting actions. Their answer was that it was the tenants who must fund these needed expenses, not ownership. Short term pain would return the buildings to the glory days of yore. And some of the money received went to other properties that were owned by the owners, to raise their value.

The Cardinals would've never had to go through a "re-set" if BDWJr had fired Mo years ago and hired competent Managers.
Exactly, good thread except for Baghdad Bob's constant chirping...many people confused as to why DeTwit continues to employ Mo-ran And just hoping everything gets better is not a plan
I think as long as he drew 3+M BDWJr was content to maintain the status quo, a major faux pas for a man as experienced in business as Bill.
Turnover in upper management is a necessity as fresh blood injects new ideas, Mo's grew stale long ago.

Cranny is another PD plant.
Just here to aggravate posters and create traffic.
Only excuse to be this obtuse about the state of this franchise.

Being positive is being “obtuse”? LOL
Oh mercy.
Definitely a plant.
If you needed money that bad I would have floated you a loan.

Sorry, have nothing to do with the PD or Cardinals, LLC. Just try to look at both sides of the coin as a fan and be objective. That doesn’t play well with the 100% negative crowd.

Then be objective.
This franchise with its resources should not be in the position its in in this division.
Forget about your built in "big money teams " excuse.

If you take a close look at MLB organizations, most of them go a down few years upon occasion. We’re going through that now, as we give the kids a chance to show their spots. But I enjoy what I can.
Like today’s 6-3 lead right now. Does that give you any pleasure, 11WS?
