The Cardinals would've never had to go through a "re-set" if BDWJr had fired Mo years ago and hired competent Managers.
you said it !
BDWJr failed to repace Mo when most could see he was well past his expiration date years ago.
This failure has led the franchise to where it is today.
Never had to happen.
With competent leadership from the POBO/GM office BDWJr could still be enjoying 3+M and we could still be enjoying playoff baseball.
You failed us Bill Dewitt, Jr
I don’t always support the owner, but efforts were made by trading for Ozuna, trading for Goldy, trading for Arenado, trading for a bunch of pitchers in July, 2023, etc. I’m sure BDW had a hand in approving all of those moves. Outsiders always have such simplistic criticisms.
And failures were made giving M. Leake, D, Fowler, B. Cecil, etal terrible free agent contracts plus extensions to players like M. Mikolas, M. Carpenter, PDJ, etal.
I'm no "outsider" pal, I'm a decade plus season ticket holder meaning I have more of a stake (re: MONEY) in my opinion than a minion like you does.
Oh mercy rock, now you’re getting defensive and angry? Calling people “pal” and “minion”? I was only saying people who make sweeping negative comments aren’t perhaps as effective as those who weigh both the pluses and the minuses in a more objective manner.
Ahhh, poor cranny trying to play the fake "I'm a statesman" card when he called my OPINION "simplistic criticism".
What I stated is a FACT proven by the sorry state of the franchise and not a negative comment.
BDWJr stuck w/Mo well past the time a competent owner would've have, he failed the franchise by doing so.
Dewitt was a great owner for a long time, he's become an incompetent one and the slide of the franchise proves it.
Fortunately he's trying to rectify his failure by pushing Mo out and bringing in sharp, young baseball minds who can take the team back to Bill's early days when he hired J. Luhnow and was on top of his game.
Good move, years too late in happening as he let Mo drive his Rolls Royce over the cliff.
JMO
Yes, rock, you’re an outsider. Just like I am. You and I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. You and I have no idea what players have been asking on the FA market. And you refuse to consider all the FAs who have signed with other teams and bombed. Likewise, you and I have no idea what players have been available in the trade market, and what teams were asking in return. You criticize the Cards for all the bad moves that have been made in hindsight. And don’t mention any good moves.
You don’t consider all the bad moves other teams have made, so there’s a comparison. To you it’s all bad. And to me, that’s just one sided and opinionated. But I’m just a minion and don’t consider all those things. Got it.
No we don't, but as a season ticket holder for over a decade I do have skin in the game as one of Bill's best customers.
But anyone one w/a modicum of baseball knowledge and years of experience can see what's happened to the once great Cardinals franchise.
And you're 100% incorrect, arrogantly assuming you know what I think when you say, "You criticize the Cards for all the bad moves that have been made in hindsight. And don’t mention any good moves".
I was the one who started a thread MONTHS before anyone in the media or anywhere else suggested we trade for Goldy.....good trade.
I also had many discussions w/rbi's where we talked about going after NADO years before it happened.....good trade.
Then you idiotically state, " To you it’s all bad".
What a stupid, arrogant thing to say when I've bled Cardinals red since I was a kid growing up in the seventies.
You're a front office sycophant who makes declarative statements like the one's above w/o any knowledge whatsoever what you're talking about.
Take a nap, you need it.
Anger never solves anything, rock. And calling another Cardinal fan a sycophant never solves anything, rock. You suggest that I take a nap? Lol. I suggest that you wake up. I’ve been a Cardinal fan for a whole lot longer than you.
Blah
Blah
Blah
No anger here but a lot of defensive retorts from you.

The Cardinal organization is running neck and neck with a poor Pirate franchise and markedly behind the Cubs, Brewers and Reds and that should never happen given the team's rich history and resources.
That should say all that needs to be said about the state of the team and where its headed.
Great detail. 11WS. Thanks for the deep insight.
Anytime.
Some of us actually know what they're talking about and have for years.
Sorry you missed it.
Really, 11WS? CT was elated when they got Ozuna.
CT was elated when they got Goldy. CT was elated when they got Arenado. CT was elated when they got Gray. How soon some forget.
Pieces but they never completed the deal. Harper was the player they should have signed. A generational talent in his prime. Money wasted on Fowler, Leake, and goodness knows who else that could have been used.
Pitching was always on the outside looking in.
They've been piecemealing a rotation together for years taking for granted a marginal NL Central.
I think when the real reason why Schildty was fired Oli hired is ever released it will reveal whats been driving BDW/MO this last decade. It will explain everything. Those 2 were iron fisted in their “plan”, which has failed…..and anyone who deviated was removed from the organization. Any different opinion, any voice of reason that stood up whether coach or player was immediately gone. World Class Arrogance killed this organization with those 2 thinking they were the secret sauce that led to the WS championships and top of baseball rankings…….when in reality it was LaRussa/Dunc and Luhnow.

Exactly, good thread except for Baghdad Bob's constant chirping...many people confused as to why DeTwit continues to employ Mo-ran And just hoping everything gets better is not a plan
The Pirates and Reds were once proud franchises with multiple world series wins. I wonder if they're fans are happy because they each won 5 titles before their current 45 (Pirates) and 35 (Reds) year droughts?

What is positive about falling to the bottom of perhaps the worst division in baseball?

Donovan, Winn, Scott, Saggese, Herrera, and Liberatore are all looking pretty good. That’s positive.

What positives?
The sum total of playoff series wins since Ozuna came here and including Goldschmidt’s, Arenado’s and Gray’s runs here is 1.
And that was 6 years ago.
Any Cardinal fan will be glad when the Cardinals acquire a good player from time to time.
Unfortunately for the fans, the clown in charge, while piecemealing decent players into the roster, never figured out how to actually build a good team.

Stop defending the front office.
To tell you the truth, bomber, I don't care a rat's fanny about the front office. I care about the players and how well some of the young, developing guys are doing. Not just at the MLB level, but also up and down the system.
