The game i saw the Jets simply checked the Blues into submission it was do or die in Jets viewed and they showed up. When the Jets apply that much pressure it exposes a lot of the Blues worts, Suter/Leddy and in my view still a lack of skill and experience. It is what it is time to hold serve and see what can happen in a Game 7 with Binnington. A Game 6 loss at home esp with out Scheifele would be disappointing even though the Blues have already surpassed anyones realistic expectationsMiamiLaw wrote: ↑01 May 2025 13:03 pmOn the ESPN broadcast they said that the Blues' 9 shots through 2 periods is a Blues playoff low since 1990 (or one of the early 90s years). How you possibly let that happen when the whole story line coming in was Helly is effing ridiculous. The Jets did as a team take away a lot of time and space, so they absolutely worked to support Helly, but good god the Blues attempted plenty of cross ice, drop and low percentage passes that never went on net where a shot would have been a million times better.netboy65 wrote: ↑01 May 2025 12:56 pmI’m pointing at everyone. That’s the point. Never said one shot was good enough, but plenty of blame to go around. Kyrou needs to do better, but our entire top 6 needs to do better. I don’t care if it was a road game or not. You had Helly on the ropes and you let him off the hookTheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 May 2025 12:49 pmI can see them having a game on the road not having a shot as they would be going up against Winnipegs top defensive players.netboy65 wrote: ↑01 May 2025 10:55 amI mentioned that earlier in this thread and was quickly pooh-poohed.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑01 May 2025 10:47 am While everyone is talking about Kyrou, I would also like to point out that I am not sure I heard Buchnevich's name at all last night. Others stood out as being bad but really, did Buch play? Yea he of course had the hat trick game which was awesome but, not unlike his regular season, his production comes in massive but short spurts and then he fades to the back.
I looked at stats with 5 minutes left, Thomas and Neighbours with 0 shots on goal. Combined.
Did Kyrou have a good game? Nope. Did the whole team lay a giant egg? You bet. To lay it all on the feet of one person is beyond ludicrous.
Kyrou being on a separate line shouldn't be, or it should be far less.
For him to have 1 shot just isn't good enough and pointing at other players isn't going to change that.
Not sure if Monty never adjusted or the team just didn't listen but that was easily the most frustrating thing for me, even more than the refs. If WPG was going to win that game, you had to make it so Hellebuyck was a reason. They failed at the one most obvious thing.

100% right. The overpassing was ridiculous with a shaky goaltender for the opponent. And I think Montgomery deserves some blame for that. He needed to put a stop to that and tell them to start shooting when they had open shots instead of trying to make the perfect pass- - especially those cross ice passes. About the only one that worked was the one to Sunny, and he blew the shot at the wide open net.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑01 May 2025 13:03 pmOn the ESPN broadcast they said that the Blues' 9 shots through 2 periods is a Blues playoff low since 1990 (or one of the early 90s years). There is never a defense for turnovers at any blue line. Most especially when they are self-inflicted due to over creative and under testicular reasoning.DawgDad wrote: ↑01 May 2025 04:22 amThat line was defensible given the Jets had line matchup advantage. The 3rd line got schooled and the Thomas line essentially broke even. The Jets focused on Snuggerud and tried to intimidate him physically but the young man held up, kept his cool. The 4th line held up. Yes, the Blues need Holliway, and they need an upgrade or two on the 3rd line, and ultimately they need an upgrade at 2C though Schenn can play somewhere.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑01 May 2025 02:13 am Kyrou is a ghost. A shell.
He will not carry the puck in deep and instead makes head-scratcher plays that reveal a weak and disastrous preference for overly fancy versus GET THE PUCK IN DEEP AND GO TO WORK. I am sure he is missing the skill and inspiration of Holloway more than anyone else, so it becomes a double whammy.
It would be nice if he could remember the fairly recent version of himself thatt had begun to buckle down.
He still struggles with mental toughness and confidence in himself and in Monty’s plan.
Never an excuse for those. Ask any coach.

Kyrou needs to play much better.
Kyrou was very good in game 1 but has not done a ton since then.
Trading Kyrou is a terrible idea because you are not going to get 36 goals and 70 points in return.
This team has a lot of sandpaper guys, we need to keep the skill guys we have and, if anything, ad more speed and skill.
