Why are you puzzled? I've explained his issue many times. I'll do it again...pay attention and you may learn something.
Pitchers/Teams learned last season that Burly loves to swing the bat! Hates to walk. So, they throw him very few strikes, allowing him to swing at pitches out of the zone which are extremely hard to drive or hit hard. Results in a ton of weak contact.
Sure, he still gets his fair share of seeing eye singles because he IS very good at making contact. But...when that contact is to pitches outside the strike zone, it's very hard to hit the ball with any authority.
And this, my student, is why Burly's last HR was last August and why he only has 3 doubles all season. Unless or until he becomes more selective at the plate, we will see no measurable, long-term improvement.
Hitting 5th tonight! I'll be watching and will cheer him on, hoping something clicks! Maybe two homers tonight? He's certainly due!!

That's what I see--as well as a slight change in stance--and it's been happening since last August. But what I can't fathom is WTH does he keep doing it and more concerning, why are they allowing him to keep adhering to this self-destructive approach!?!?!Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 17:18 pmWhy are you puzzled? This is the kind of sh*t that I don't think the Oli supporters can even grasp. There's so much madness going on with these young hitters that SHOULD be dealt with through proper coaching and clearly, they're just not getting it because the same thing keeps happening.
Today's 9th inning aside...

with this 5:40pm start, this game should end just in time for the Blues game.

This kid's supposed to be a phenom?
Does he throw anything offspeed?
And my gawd, Burly, that was right down central and whiff....

Just keep writing Burleson’s name in the middle of the lineup

It's not exactly rocket-surgery. at least he got his bat on the ball.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 17:52 pmGorman doesn't look much better. I honestly don't understand how you can pop up so many fastballs right down the middle.
first game Burly swinging strike 3 on chin-high pitch
this time swinging strike 3 on pitch that almost bounced in the dirt
plate discipline?

No, he doesn't. He really needs to work on pitch recognition.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑30 Apr 2025 17:52 pmGorman doesn't look much better. I honestly don't understand how you can pop up so many fastballs right down the middle.
