I’d expect most players to try to turn there and try to take the puck north up the ice. But with the Jet right on him, Jimmy at a standstill and another Jet on the blue line, he most likely would’ve gotten the puck stripped from him. Or at best he turns and tries to chip it out of the zone. But instead, he quickly surveyed his options while protecting the puck, then fired the puck back behind our own net, bouncing it off the boards to a Blues d-man that was more open/had a better angle. The Blues broke out successfully from there. THAT is the play that stood out to me. Showed a lot of poise and hockey sense in that little play.

He's also executed some really nice reverse checks....he's a very well trained player.

Agree. Snuggie looks like a vet and he is a creator. Next year, I hope DD's light comes on a little better and I do have high hopes for Zach Dean once he heals. With Monty at the helm, get used to the blues being in contention year in, year out.

Also, is anybody else excited to see what other magic DA pulls out of his hat in the offseason? Is there another Fowler out there that will blossom w/ a winning hockey culture?

I recall the exact play you’re talking about. The composure displayed in that decision making is something I feel some of us are still wishing Kyrou would display more consistently.

Also really enjoy how #21 has no issue letting the puck go. Albeit there have been a few terrible angles but, with a shot like that I’m sure he feels confident with almost any spot he shoots it from.

Yeah, there were definitely more than a few times in college where he’d get a little tunnel visioned and shoot when there was a wide open teammate in a better position but you’re going to get that sometimes. It’s good to have a few guys that have a shoot first mentality, a few with a pass first mentality and pair them together.

That said, Snuggy’s hockey sense has been better in the NHL than I expected. I’m starting to think that part of his game just didn’t show much in college as most of his teammates just weren’t on that level. He was consistently paired with Oliver Moore this season and no offense to Moore but I find him to be below average in terms of hockey sense. They just didn’t have much chemistry and I hated that Motzko kept putting them together. Snuggy showed fantastic chemistry with Cooley and Knies his freshman year but I attributed that more to him being a lucky passenger with those two. But now I’m thinking he was more than a passenger. Cooley obviously drove that line but Snuggy can play! I’m excited for his future.

there were so many here who thought he wouldnt sign
there were more who didnt think he would be good with out cooley and knies.
There were a few like me who have him and dvorsky penciled in after the their seasons ended.

I was right about Snuggy, Dvo needed more time. I have them both making the team of camp next year. with out a doubt/

Honestly I don't think it was that many who said he wouldn't sign. Just a few of the usual suspects who feel the need to always be right. The majority of sane Blues fans were confident he would sign after his college season was over. And he did just that!

Agreed. It was really just that Rollin guy and maybe a couple others. Jimmy said all the right things and I never had a doubt.

About the kids . . .This team has almost certainly changed the focus of the retool, they have reached competitive status and may still cross the bridge to make a deep run and become a Cup contender. I believe they will work Dvorsky in and groom him to backfill Schenn in the top-6 but it may be a more plodding Bolduc-like path. From this point forward they have a competitive team to tweak vs re-tool, I wouldn't be surprised to see any tradeable player moved.

It took several seasons for Thomas to become a [prorated] 95-point center. Just saying.
