Jack in the Box Will Close 150-200 Locations

Post by Pink Freud »

Uneasy lies the head that wears a pointed clown hat: https://www.latimes.com/business/story/ ... -locations

Given how many restaurant chains sell their menu items in grocery stores, I'm surprised Jack has never packaged and sold their (ahem) "tacos" 8) for home deep fryers. All they are is a corn tortilla with a small amount of seasoned mystery meat (?) paste that is dropped into a deep fryer. Then it's pried open to insert a half slice of American cheese, a bit of chopped lettuce and a squirt of taco sauce. That's all it is.

And I can happily eat 8 of them in one sitting. Extra lettuce, please.

Those tacos were the perfect antidote to Falstaff. It's the unique grease.

I'd hate to see them disappear. I would miss the stuffed jalapenos, one of my guilty pleasures.

Closing 200 underperforming locations is a good thing and still leaves over 2,000. Miss the 2 for 99 cent tacos.

You can still get them for that price if you order through their app.

A Jack in the Box franchise can cost between $1,810,600 and $4,207,500 to open, excluding land and financing. This includes the initial franchise fee, building improvements, initial inventory, and three months of operating funds. There's also an ongoing royalty fee of 5% of gross sales and a marketing fee of 5% of gross sales.

They'll also sell Del Taco after only three years of ownership, odd since Jack also shed their Qdoba Mexican chain a few years ago.https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/20 ... locations/

When I lived in San Diego (Jack's corp HQ) they opened a midtown upscale Jack in the Box with cozy couches, a fireplace, and a coffeehouse/wine bar vibe, but it didn't last long. It was still Jack In the Box.
