Given how many restaurant chains sell their menu items in grocery stores, I'm surprised Jack has never packaged and sold their (ahem) "tacos" for home deep fryers. All they are is a corn tortilla with a small amount of seasoned mystery meat (?) paste that is dropped into a deep fryer. Then it's pried open to insert a half slice of American cheese, a bit of chopped lettuce and a squirt of taco sauce. That's all it is.
And I can happily eat 8 of them in one sitting. Extra lettuce, please.
A Jack in the Box franchise can cost between $1,810,600 and $4,207,500 to open, excluding land and financing. This includes the initial franchise fee, building improvements, initial inventory, and three months of operating funds. There's also an ongoing royalty fee of 5% of gross sales and a marketing fee of 5% of gross sales.
When I lived in San Diego (Jack's corp HQ) they opened a midtown upscale Jack in the Box with cozy couches, a fireplace, and a coffeehouse/wine bar vibe, but it didn't last long. It was still Jack In the Box.

Great, great info from an obvious insider; thank you.
