Tucker is the sandpaper on defense. Big and mean. The Jets don't want nothing to do with him clearing the net in front of Binnington. He was flowing in all 3 zones. This is a big loss. We got a lot softer on the backend.

I like Tucker's game and what a great game he had today. He's a young man who is still progressing and I think he'll probably be a regular NHLer for many years to come. Having said that, if Tucker is the difference between a series win or loss, then the guys on the ice are the problem.

On a side note, I read some negative posts about Kessel coming in. If Suter isn't ready, then Kessel it is. Next man up. And extra shifts for the other guys to protect the weak link.

Great work by the kid sorry he’s hurt especially when he’s starting to figure it out but let’s step back from the ledge next man up it’ll be fine

That’s pretty fair. Obviously any injury is bad and you never like to see someone go down like that but of the 6 d-men out there today, it was our #6 that got injured. It’s not like Parayko or Fowler went down.

Watching Tucker, I’m somewhat reminded of Bob Gassoff. Now, Tucker is not the fighter Gassoff was, but in that 76-77 season, Gassoff had taken HUGE strides towards being more than just a fighter and had developed a pretty good shot from the point. Tucker this year has really come on and we saw today why he’s in there instead of Suter. He very well could have had 2 goals today.

Apologies if it’s been posted, but does anyone know how Suter was injured?
The previous two games he averaged 18 minutes and that last game, he was under 14….

I take it there's no word yet on any specifics about Tucker's injury?

Lower body. Out from a day to the rest of his career.

Sorry for the snark. We aren’t getting any legit injury news unless it’s a torn ACL and he’s out for the season. It’s the only reason I have a sliver of hope that if we win this series we might see Holloway eventually. Lots of rumors on this board he’s out for the year. Seems like the only thing that ever gets announced this time of year. There has been no such formal announcement.

I'm gonna be positive and assume it looked worse than it winds up being. But, if Tucker is out for while, and if Suter is ready to go, I have no worries. Suter a pro and a vet. He, and the defense, will be just fine.

If it's Kessel, so be it. Part of winning the the toughest tourney in all of sports is overcoming adversity.

Chill people. Losing Tucker is tough, no doubt. But Suter with his experience is fine for the playoffs. If he can’t go, then Kessel is next up. He’s got good positional fundamentals and has much more to show if he gains more confidence. Tucker was the same until he punched through. Lots of similarities except for the rough stuff. I still think Kessel has that in him down the road. This team is at least a year ahead of itself but Binnington might win another Cup here this year. Next 3 games will tell much.

I'm going to guess that Monty chose Tucker over Suter and not because of Suter's inability to play or being hurt.

I hope that's the case and Suter is ready to go, he'd be a very good back up.

I’ve heard perhaps Suter was dinged up and that’s why they went with 7 d-men in Game 2 but who knows. Suter player over 4 min more than both Leddy and Tucker that game.

My guess is we see Suter on Wed night. Even if he is dinged up that’s still another 2 1/2 days to rest up. Man does this series feel like it dragging sometimes. I can only assume there were numerous conflicts in the 2 arenas? I prefer more of an every other day cadence.

If anyone has earned a rest on this team, it would be Suter.
He played 101 games each of the last two years—every regular season game and all 19 playoff games last year and the year before that. He averaged just under 18 minutes in the 19 games last year and a whopping 23:21 in the prior playoffs. Now, he just turned 40.

He will not give us many bone-crunching hits, but he is amazing with his positioning and bag of tricks, due to his 36754:04 minutes of regular season and 3370:23 minutes of NHL Playoff ice time. Forty thousand minutes of ice time in the NHL? Rest is a great luxury and a well-deserved one.

The extra days off are really boosting the Blues, Parayko looks great again and Thomas appears to be back 100%

That’s very true. Parayko in particular looked like he had more giddy up in his stride yesterday.

But it works the other way too. Sounds like Vilardi is likely to return for Game 5 on Wednesday. He’s a good net front presence for them.
